Townsquare Launches 104.9 The Edge Battle Creek

Townsquare Media flipped Hot AC “Mix 104.9” WBXX Marshall/Battle Creek MI to Alternative “104.9 The Edge” this morning. The station states that the move was made in part to fill the void created by Midwest Communication’s 94.1 WVIC Lansing flipping to Classic Country in March 2015. The Edge will begin carrying the syndicated Free Beer & Hot Wings on Monday with 104 minute commercial free blocks the rest of the day. WBXX registered a 3.1 share in the just released Fall 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings.

Touch Expands To Battle Creek

Midwest Communications Urban AC “The Touch” 1560 WNWN/95.5 W238AL Portage/Kalamazoo, MI has begun simulcasting on 930 WTOU/102.7 W274AQ Battle Creek. Midwest acquired then Sports 930 WBCK from Cumulus in January 2014 for $175,000 and then purchased the translator in May for $45,000. 930 has been silent since last summer. Over time Midwest intends to add unique local church and sports broadcasts for each signal, but for now both will carry the same programming around the clock.

Sales Calvary Chapel of Omaha has sold the CP for 94.9 K235CD Omaha to Clear Channel for $225,000. Clear Channel intends to rebroadcast an HD subchannel of 96.1 KISO on the translator. American General Media acquires 106.9 K295AZ Buttonwillow, CA from First Ventures Capital Partners for $40,000. The translator holds a CP to relocate to the tower of AGM’s News/Talk 1180 KERN Wasco-Greenacres and will rebroadcast that station, bringing it to FM in Bakersfield. The University of Central Oklahoma is purchasing 95.9 KZCU Woodward, OK from Cameron University for $50,000. Upon consummation of the sale, KZCU will flip from a simulcast of Public 89.3 KCCU Lawton to Classical 90.1 KUCO Edmond/Oklahoma City. After taking a week off for the Memorial Day holiday, we’re back with a roundup of the last two weeks worth of FCC filings. Station Moves Connoisseur Media’s Classic Rock “95.9 The Fox” WFOX Norwalk, CT has applied to change its city-of-license to Southport, CT with no changes to its 3kW at 91 meters signal (Coverage Map). The move will shift WFOX’s home market from Stamford/Norwalk to Bridgeport where it will join sister Hot AC “Star 99.9” WEZN. Domestic Church Media’s Catholic 89.3 WFJS-FM Freehold, NJ proposes an increase from 3.8kW at 50 meters to 15.2kW from the same antenna. Midwest Expands In Battle Creek

Midwest Communications has acquired Sports “930 The Score” WBCK from the Current Radio Trust for $175,000. WBCK has been held by various trusts for divestiture since 2007 when Cumulus acquired the remainder of its now former Battle Creek cluster from Clear Channel. Cumulus sold its Battle Creek cluster to Townsquare Media last year. WBCK will join Country “Win 98.5” WNWN-FM in Midwest’s Battle Creek holdings. The company also owns stations in the adjacent Kalamazoo and Lansing markets.
