Bo Brown Joins Cumulus Media Beaumont As Market Manager

Cumulus Media has appointed Bo Brown as VP/Market Manager for its five station cluster in Beaumont TX. Brown previously served as Director of Sales for that cluster from 1997-1999 after beginning his career in 1992 as an Account Executive for Petracom’s stations in that market. He most recently served as Senior Director for Houston based Rhino Marketing and has also served as General Sales Manager for CBS Radio Houston and VP/Director of Sales for Clear Channel Houston. Brown takes the management reigns of the Beaumont cluster from Elizabeth Blackstock. The Lake Charles LA based Blackstock will continue to oversee that market. KAYD Returns To Nash But With Some Changes

There was no outright format change at Cumulus Country “Nash-FM 101.7” KAYD Silsbee/Beaumont TX after stunting for a month with Christmas Music as “Santa 101.7“. There were a handful of changes though to accompany the station as it returned to Country. Despite retaining the “Nash-FM” name, KAYD is now utilizing the gold based “Nash Icon” music library. The end of the 24/7 Comedy network brings a new format to Clear Channel’s 103.3 K277AG Beaumont, TX/KKMY-HD2 Orange. K227AG has flipped to Urban as “103.3 The Beat” positioned as “Beaumont’s Hip-Hop & R&B”. The new format positions K227AG to chip away at Cumulus’ market leading Urban “Magic 102.5” KTCX.

Univision Sells One In Beaumont/Port Arthur

Update 11/20: Excel Media is paying $525,000 for KPTY. Original Report 11/14: Univision has sold 105.3 KPTY Winnie, TX to John Walton’s Excel Media for an undisclosed price. KPTY currently operates as part of Univision’s Houston cluster as a simulcast of Spanish CHR “104.9 Tu Musica” KAMA-FM Deer Park. KPTY will be Excel’s first broadcasting property. It is a Class C2 operating with 50kW at 150 meters.

Bobby Bones Moves From CHR To Country

Clear Channel’s syndicated Bobby Bones Show, based at “96.7 Kiss-FM” KHFI Austin, will transition from serving CHR to Country stations. The show is currently heard on 18 stations primarily in the central and southern parts of the country. The biggest of which is “Z107.7” KSLZ St. Louis. Bones will do his final show for CHR stations on Friday, February 8. In Austin, the show will move to Clear Channel’s 100.7 “KASE 101” while the program itself will become based at “The Big 98” WSIX Nashville.
