Cumulus Media has appointed Bill Gentry as VP/Market Manager for its Birmingham AL cluster. WJOX-FM Sets New Midday Show

Following the move of the JOX Roundtable from middays to mornings earlier this month, Cumulus Sports 94.5 WJOX-FM Birmingham has announced the addition of Cole Cubelic, Aaron Suttles and Landrum Roberts for middays starting Monday, March 26. Cole Cubelic joins WJOX-FM from mornings at Cumulus’ “730 The Ump” WUMP Huntsville. The former Auburn football player also works for ESPN’s SEC Network. Aaron Suttles is the University of Alabama beat reporter for the Tuscaloosa News and Landrum Roberts has been hosting weekends at WJOX-FM. Station Sales Week Of 3/2: Jazz Hall Of Fame Takes Birmingham Non-Comm

Samford University is selling its Jazz 91.1 WVSU-FM Birmingham AL to The Jazz Hall of Fame of Alabama for $50,000. The buyer, led by Bishop James Lowe has begun programming the station through a Programming Services Agreement. Samford will also receive up to 1200 minutes a year for ten years for marketing and event announcements and half of those minutes can be carried over into the next year. The buyer will change WVSU-FM’s call letters within six months of closing. Federated Media’s Talking Stick Communications sells Sports “ESPN 106.7” WFGA Hicksville OH to Swick Broadcasting for $300,000. WJOX Moves JOX Roundtable From Middays To Mornings

Cumulus Media Sports “Jox 94.5” WJOX-FM Birmingham AL is moving its midday show “JOX Roundtable” from middays to mornings starting Monday, March 5. Hosted by Jim Dunaway, Lance Taylor and Ryan Brown, the show has been in place since 2010 and will now air from 6-10am. iHeartMedia’s aggressive roll-out of the Woody Show to mornings at its Alternative stations continues as the show debuted on Monday at “Alt 99.1” W256CD Fultondale/WQEN-HD3. Carl Grapentine is retiring from mornings at Window To The World Communications Classical 98.7 WFMT Chicago after 26 years in two stints with the station. Grapentine joined WFMT in 1986 from 105.1 WQRS Detroit, but exited in 1990 for mornings at 97.1 WNIB Chicago. He returned for mornings in 1996 where he has remained to this day. iHeartMedia has moved the programming of Alternative “Alt 94.9” W235BS Birmingham AL to 99.1 W256CD Fultondale. The move comes following the sale of 94.9 W235BS from Red Mountain Ventures to Courtney French Broadcasting for $385,000 in July. Upon closing of the sale the translator will begin rebroadcasting Urban Oldies “V900” WATV. W256CD is also owned by Red Mountain Ventures and had been operating as Sports “99.1 The Game“. Easy 102.1 Birmingham Signs-Off

With the sale of its translator to Educational Media Foundation, SummitMedia has pulled the plug on Soft AC “Easy 102.1” W271BN Birmingham AL. Originating station 1320 WENN has gone silent while W271BN has flipped to EMF’s Christian CHR “Air 1” network via SummitMedia’s 104.7 WZZK-HD2. This brings an end to the Soft AC brand that debuted on 97.3 in November 2013 and moved to 102.1 last March.
