QBS Broadcasting has signed on Talk/Classic Rock 93.7 WBQO St. Simons Island/Brunswick GA. The station is featuring a syndicated Talk lineup of “This Morning with Gordon Deal”, Mike Gallagher, Clark Howard, Dave Ramsey, and Phil Valentine. The station is then airing Nick Michaels’ syndicated Classic Rock program “The Deep End” from 7pm to 5am. WBQO launched on Monday, October 26 following a stunt loop over the weekend promoting the new lineup.

Ahead of Clear Channel closing on its acquisition of Qantum Communications, two Brunswick, GA stations are moving to new locations. Classic Hits “Big 96.3” 1490 WMOG/96.3 W242CJ Brunswick and Urban “B92.7 Jamz” WBGA St. Simons Island have swapped locations and call letters. The move comes as the 92.7 signal will be placed in a divestiture trust upon Clear Channel’s acquisition of the remainder of the company closing. The move enables Clear Channel to retain the Urban format via the AM/Translator combo.
Update 5/27: The sale has been filed with the FCC showing that Connoisseur Media will pay $50 million for 1370 WALK/97.5 WALK-FM Patchouge. Additionally, one of the Qantum stations will be sent to the Brunswick Divestiture Trust. Urban “B92.7” WBGA St. Simons Island, GA will be spun-off to keep the cluster under the ownership limits as it loses its grandfathered status. The trust will be run by Jeannette Tully, who also operates the Aloha Stations Trust. The highest bid went to Robinson Entertainment, LLC which paid $2,015,000 for a Class A at 100.3 in Lake Park, FL. That station will cover West Palm Beach and is headed by Nicholas “Dick” Robinson, the Founder/CEO of The Connecticut School of Broadcasting. $452,000 gave Denise Esserman a Class C3 allocation for 93.7 in St. Simons Island, GA.
