Brazos Valley Communications has flipped Sports “ESPN Aggieland 103.9” KJXJ Franklin/College Station TX to Classic Rock “103.9 The Fox“. The flip returns Rock to the station a year and a half after it dropped its Active Rock “Rock 103.9” identity for Sports. The new format positions KJXJ directly against iHeartMedia’s “99.5 The Fox” KNFX-FM Bryan. KJXJ registered a 0.9 share in the Spring 2016 Nielsen Audio ratings. Its new target KNFX held a 6.4 share.
Bryan Broadcasting and Texas A&M University partnered to launch “Fusion Radio” on 95.1 KNDE-HD2 College Station TX last month. Branded as “Divergent Rock”, the station focuses on a broad Alternative music mix with a sampling of Classic Rock and Hip-Hop. Fusion is operating from studios on Texas A&M’s campus with students taking Radio Broadcasting and Advanced Radio Broadcasting classes handling on-air, production, and promotions for the station. Bryan Broadcasting has brought Sports “1150 The Zone” KZNE College Station, TX to FM on 102.7 K274CM. K274CM had been operating as Country “Maverick 102.7“. That station began the process of moving to 100.9 KVMK Wheelock in February, where the format will remain. KZNE/K274CM becomes the second Sports station on the FM dial in Bryan/College Station joining Brazos Valley Communications “ESPN Aggieland” 103.9 KJXJ Franklin which launched this past March. KZNE has the added benefit of being the flagship station for the hometown Texas A&M University play-by-play.

Station Moves Telesouth Communications is canceling its previously granted CP to upgrade 103.1 WOSM Ocean Springs/Biloxi, MS from a Class C2 with 50kW at 140 meters to a C1 with 100kW at 180 meters at the request of Apex Broadcasting. Concurrently WOSM has proposed to remain at its current tower with an increase to 150 meters (Coverage Map). At the same time Apex’ 103.1 WZLB Valparaiso/Fort Walton Beach applies to relocate to a new tower site upgrading from 50kW at 114.4 meters to 50kW at 145.8 meters (Coverage Map). Bryan Broadcasting is adding an additional signal in the Bryan/College Station market acquiring the CP for 100.9 KKEE Wheelock, TX from Katherine Pyeatt. Terms of the agreement were not yet disclosed. The new Class A signal will operate with 3.7kW at 129 meters. KKEE will join a Bryan Broadcasting cluster that includes CHR “Candy 95.1” KNDE, Christian AC “Peace 107:7” KPWJ, Sports “1150 The Zone” KZNE, Christian Preaching/Talk 1510 KAGC, and News/Talk 1620 WTAW in the Bryan/College Station market. Bill Whitley of the Dallas office of Media Services Group served as the exclusive broker for the transaction.
Bryan Broadcasting has completed the upgrade of the former 107.7 KKLB Madisonville TX. At 1:07pm, the station launched its new format as Christian AC “Peace 107” KPWJ. Brian Christopher has been named Program Director of the station. The station is now licensed to Kurten with 3.5kW at 100 meters which put the station into the College Station market. Bryan Broadcasting acquired the station in April for $750,000. It joins a cluster that includes Sports “1150 The Zone” KZNE, Christian Talk 1510 KAGC, News/Talk 1620 WTAW, and CHR “Candy 95.1” KNDE.
Clear Channel Spanish AC “Mia 103.1” KVJM Hearne, TX flipped to CHR “103.1 Kiss-FM” last week. The flip places the station in direct competition with Bryan Broadcasting’s “Candy 95” KNDE and Brazos Valley Communications’ Rhythmic “101.9 The Beat” KBXT. Kiss picks up The Bobby Bones Show from sister KHFI Austin for mornings and the Premium Choice Wild feed the remainder of the day.
