After closing on its purchase of Oldies 88.5 WMCE-FM Erie PA, Lake Erie College of Osteopathic Medicine is acquiring Oldies “Hitland 106.9” 1220 WSRQ Sarasota and translators 95.9 W240DP Venice and 106.9 W295BH Sarasota FL from Jim Lampl’s Florida Talk Radio Inc. for $520,000. The University, which operates a second campus in Bradenton FL, will convert the station to non-commercial but retain the format. Two groups operating in the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre market have worked out a deal to transfer a station across the New York state line. People Moves 3/9: LM Continues To Shake-Up Charleston Staff

The staff turnover continues at LM Communications’ Charleston SC cluster with the departure of Operations Manager Matthew Potter after thirteen years with the station. Potter, who also served as afternoon host at Active Rock “98 Rock” 98.1 WYBB told Charleston Scene that he was met by new station management in the parking lot yesterday and told of his dismissal. Potter’s exit follows Richard ‘Box’ Bachschmidt’s resignation from mornings at AAA “105.5 The Bridge” WCOO last week. Dale Mussen is stepping down from the morning show at Townsquare Media Country 106.5 WYRK Buffalo NY after 34 years at the station. In a blog entry on the station’s website, Mussen writes that he will stay on for fill-in work and station events. Clay Moden and Liz Mantel will remain in place without Mussen. Saga Communications has appointed Jess Jennings as Program Director for its recently acquired “92.5 Kickin Country” WCKN Moncks Corner/Charleston SC. Jennings joins WCKN from Sandhill Media Group where she was Program Director/midday host at Hot AC “100.7 My-FM” KSNA and morning co-host at Country 99.1 KUPI Idaho Falls ID. Kirkman Broadcasting launched Classic Hits “92.1/102.1 The City” on 1450 WQNT Charleston SC and a pair of translators: 92.1 W221CI Summerville and 102.1 W271CP Charleston this morning. The station is focusing on “The Greatest Hits Of The 60s, 70s, and 80s” and is launching with three on-air hosts.
