After spending the past year as Program Director of AC 102.7 WGNI and Classic Rock “94.5 The Hawk” WKXS Wilmington NC, Cumulus Media is transferring Steve McKay to Columbia SC to program AC “B106.7” WTCB and Classic Hits 98.5 WOMG. McKay previously programmed Entercom Hot AC “94.9 The Point” WPTE Norfolk from 2002-2006 and Greater Media Rhythmic Oldies “95.7 Jammin’ Gold” WEJM Philadelphia in 1999-2000. as well as CHR’s 93.5 WSBG Stroudsburg and 97.1 WBHT Wilkes-Barre PA during his career. WQXL Columbia SC Moving To 100.7

Capital City Communications Conservative Talk “95.9 The Point” 1470 WQXL Columbia SC will move its FM signal from 95.9 W240AX to 100.7 W264DF on Sunday, January 1. W264DF is being moved into Columbia from Lumber City GA as part of the AM Revitalization. It will improve WQXL’s FM coverage as 95.9 currently operates with a directional 250w/71m, while W264DF will operate with 210w/164m from northeast of downtown. WQXL and both translators are owned by Glory Communications and operated via LMA. The Talk format was launched in October 2013 by former WVOC host Keven Cohen to bring his show back to the Columbia market.

Station Sales Norsan Broadcasting sells Regional Mexican “La Raza 840” WCEO Columbia SC to Norma Lewis’ 21st Century Broadcasting for $1,138,223.07. The buyer recently acquired 1230 WEZO Augusta GA and flipped it to Gospel “1230 The Blaze“. Thomas Copenhaver is selling his two stations in Marion VA to CDM Broadcasting. Classic Rock 102.5 WOLD-FM and CHR “Z103.5” WZVA go from TEC2 Broadcasting and TECO Broadcasting respectively to CDM for $651,039. CDM began operating the two stations via Time Brokerage Agreement on August 1. WWNU Makes Flip To His Radio

Radio Training Network closed on its acquisition of AAA “92.1 The Palm” WWNU Irmo/Columbia SC on Tuesday and flipped the station to its Christian AC “His Radio” network. The His Radio programming had been airing in Columbia on 106.3 W292EU Columbia via 96.7 WLTY-HD3. As of now the programming is simulcasting on both stations. Radio Training Network had agreed to acquire WWNU from Davis Media in April for $1 million. A sale of sister Country “94.3 The Dude” WWNQ Forest Acres to Midlands Media Group is still pending.

Midlands Media Group Acquires 94.3 WWNQ Columbia SC

Following its sale of AAA “92.1 The Palm” WWNU Irmo/Columbia SC to Radio Training Network, Davis Media is selling Country “94.3 The Dude” WWNQ Forest Acres/Columbia to Midlands Media Group for $900,000. Also included in the sale is local news website ColaDaily.com. The purchasing group was led by former WWNQ/WWNU GM and minority owner Kirk Litton. Litton spent much of his career in sales in the Washington DC market. Programming Consultant Keith ‘Clark’ Stover is also involved in the group. Stover previously spent fifteen years at CBS Radio Pittsburgh as VP/Programming.

Radio Training Network Acquires 92.1 The Palm Columbia

Davis Media is selling one half of its Columbia SC operation to Radio Training Network. RTN has filed to purchase AAA “92.1 The Palm” WWNU Irmo from Davis for $1 million. Radio Training Network owns multiple regional Christian AC networks including “His Radio” in North and South Carolina. WWNU will join 106.3 W292EU as their Columbia affiliates. Unaffected as of now are Davis Media’s Country “94.3 The Dude” WWNQ Forest Acres and their ColaDaily.com local news site.

The station is debuting with 20,000 songs commercial free. The new format creates a flanker to sister Urban “100.1 The Beat” WXBT against Alpha Media’s combo of Urban AC 101.3 WWDM and Urban “Hot 103.9/93.9” WHXT/WSCZ.
