Mitchell, who most recently anchored mornings at Classic Hits 104.3 WOMC Detroit until the end of 2017, fills the opening alongside Stacy McKay created by Dino Tripodis’ exit earlier this month. Prior to his eight year run in Detroit, Mitchell hosted mornings at Country 99.5 KPLX Dallas and a decade at CHR “Y100” WHYI Miami.
After 24 years in mornings at Saga Communications AC “Sunny 95” WSNY-FM Columbus OH, Dino Tripodis has announced he is exiting the station on Friday, June 15. Tripodis was a stand-up comedian before joining WSNY for mornings in 1994. He has been paired with Stacy McKay from 1994-2007 and again since 2010. He intends to focus on his writing, acting, and movie production work as well as his podcast about whiskey. If you don’t live in Columbus, Ohio it’s not a big deal and even if you do, it STILL might not be a big deal,(lol)but after 24 years, I’ll be leaving the morning show at SUNNY 95 with this Friday being my last show. John Corby, afternoon host at iHeartMedia News/Talk 610 WTVN Columbus OH died over the weekend at the age of 61. Corby spent two stints at WTVN, first from 1984-1997 and then returning as afternoon host in 1997 until now. In between he spent three years at 1020 KDKA Pittsburgh hosting an evening Sports show. Corby was off the air last week with an undisclosed illness and his cause of death has not been revealed. WTVN has compiled some of Corby’s best bits on its website. The addition of the 106.3 rimshot signal enhances WCKX’s coverage on the west side of the Columbus market as Power has fallen behind iHeartMedia’s “106.7 The Beat” WZCB Dublin in the most recent PPM monthly. WZCB registered a 3.6 share in the October monthly, while WCKX held a 3.3 share down from a 4.0 just two months ago. The Classic Hip-Hop format on WBMO held a 1.5 share. On August 1, iHeart applied to move what was originally 94.7 W234BW Parkersburg WV to Cleveland rebroadcasting News/Talk 1100 WTAM with 195w vertical/213m. Over the course of the two waiver periods, iHeart had seven translators that it applied to move to different destinations in each. W293CW was one of those where it was granted a Construction Permit to relocate to Marion OH as 106.5 W293CW rebroadcasting 1490 WMRN. On top of that the translator was given a six month extension of its CP to extend the time it had to be built from expiring on March 15 to September 15.
