The new format goes up against ICA Broadcasting CHR “Planet 102.3” KKPN and Malkan Broadcasting Rhythmic CHR “Z95” KZFM. The “Power 103.3” format briefly appeared in April on K277BL and 93.3 KNPI-LP Padre Island.
Radio KCCT Inc. has flipped Americana/Texas Country 1150 KCCT/104.1 K281AV Corpus Christi TX to Classic Hits “Retro 104.1“. Focusing on pop/rhythmic hits of the 1980s and 90s, the new format is going after iHeartMedia’s 70s/80s based Classic Hits “Big 93.9” KMXR Corpus Christi. With the sale of Convergent Broadcasting’s Corpus Christi stations to ICA Radio approved by the FCC and closing imminent, Variety Hits “107.3 Jake-FM” KAJE Ingleside TX will flip to Classic Country tonight. Bohn will pay $8,000 in a civil penalty over claims by Calvary Chapel of Costa Mesa that following a deal to enter a Time Brokerage Agreement to Alta Sierra Broadcasting, the licensee failed to maintain a staff presence at the station. ICA Radio will pay $2.48 million for the three Convergent Broadcasting stations in Corpus Christi. The company began operating the stations on February 1 via LMA. KKBA has picked up the syndicated Billy Madison Show based out of Cox Media Group’s 99.5 KISS San Antonio. In the Spring 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings, KNCN was tied for first in the market with a 7.9 share while KKBA languished with a 2.2.
1440 KEYS will debut its new Talk format on Friday, August 28. The new lineup will include the return of Bob Jones to the station for mornings. Jones previously worked at KEYS during its previous Talk run until exiting in 2009.
