Oldies Stunt To Lead To Jack In Eastern NC

Update 3:30pm: As we thought, “Oldies 92” is just a stunt leading into the eventual launch of Variety Hits “92.3/101.1 Jack-FM“. The website and stream for “The Touch” have been updated with the new Jack branding. 101.1 refers to WQZL Belhaven/New Bern, which currently airs the “SAM: Simply About Music” Variety Hits format distributed by Dial Global. The flip to Jack will take place at 12pm on Friday. A lot of effort went into WQSL’s “Oldies 92” stunt as it is currently live-jocked with jingles and a 60’s style presentation. Double Flip in Eastern North Carolina

As the ball dropped on 2008, Inner Banks Media split its CHR “The Hot FM” simulcast in Eastern North Carolina in favor of two new formats. 94.1 WWHA Oriental, covering the New Bern, Morehead City, and Jacksonville areas became Oldies “Kool 94.1” with Imus in the Morning and “East Carolina’s Greatest Hits”. The “Kool” brand and WKOO calls had a long run at 98.7 in Jacksonville, NC before becoming Variety Hits “Will-FM” in 2005. Meanwhile 94.3 WWNK Farmville/Greenville became “Talk-FM 94.3“, adopting the format and programming of crosstown 1070 WNCT.
