BLS Entertainment Urban AC “Magic 98.5” 1400 WEOA/W253BF Evansville IN has flipped to Urban branding as “98.5 WEOA“. This is the first time Evansville has had a current based Urban station. WEOA General Manager Darin Lander told the Courier & Press, “This opens up a broader listening audience. We just felt like Evansville is ready for that change.”

Jim Roberts is exiting his position as General Manager of Mid-West Family Broadcasting’s South Bend IN cluster after 22 years with the company and 7 as GM. Roberts will be joining Futuri Media as a National Account Manager. Mid-West Family Broadcasting South Bend General Manager Jim Roberts has accepted the position of National Account Manager at Futuri Media. Jim has been with the South Bend stations, including WNSN-FM, WZOC-FM, WQLQ-FM and WSBT-AM and FM translator on 96.1, since 1996. ESPN Radio To Return To Evansville Market

When Henson Media completes the move-in of the former 97.7 WWKY Providence KY to Sebree, where it will rimshot Evansville, it will return ESPN Radio programming to the market. Now sporting WREF call letters, the station will be branded as “ESPN 97.7 The Ref” when it signs-on from its new location in early June. The station will rimshot Evansville from the south with 6kW/96m. The Henderson KY Gleaner reports that WREF will carry Matt Jones’ Kentucky Sports Radio from 9-11am and add a local program from 5-6pm will be added. All other programming will come from the ESPN Radio national lineup. Play-by-play will include St. Louis Cardinals baseball. The Evansville market has been without ESPN Radio programming since Townsquare Media flipped 105.3 WJLT to AC in December 2016.

Another LPFM Hit By F*** Donald Trump Barix Hijacking

Another station was hit on Monday with the Barix box hijacking as Lake Keowee Broadcasting Group’s Classic Hits/Beach “Sunny 105.9” WFBS-LP Salem SC began playing the loop of YG & Nipsey Hussle “F*** Donald Trump” around 10:00pm. President Frank Patterson wrote on Facebook that he has captured the IP address used by the hijackers and has passed it on to the FCC. FM Sports Returns To Evansville

Weeks after Townsquare Media flipped Sports “ESPN 105.3” WJLT Evansville IN to AC “My 105.3“, The Original Company has flipped a pair of its stations to fill the void. 106.7 WYFX Mount Vernon IN drops its simulcast of sister Classic Hits 107.1 WJPS Boonville to become “Fox Sports 106.7” and will be joined by former Classic Country 1590 WRCY Mount Vernon. Both stations will carry the national Fox Sports Radio lineup, but break away for different play-by-play. WYFX will carry Indiana Pacers basketball, Indianapolis Colts football, St. Louis Cardinals baseball, Indiana University and Mater Dei high school games. WRCY carries Purdue University and Mount Vernon high school games.

ESPN Evansville Gives Way To My 105.3

Townsquare Media flipped Sports “ESPN Evansville” 105.3 WJLT Evansville IN to Christmas Music as “My 105.3 WJLT” today. Following the holidays, WJLT will move to AC positioned as “80’s, 90’s and Now”. The new format will compete against Midwest Communications’ market dominating 104.1 WIKY. In the Spring 2016 Nielsen Audio ratings, WIKY held a 20.5 share of the Evansville market, while WJLT’s Sports was at a 2.2 share. WJLT had flipped to Sports from Classic Hits “Superhits 105.3” in July 2014.

FCC Report 9/25: Class C Boost For Way-FM Dallas

Since Way Media acquired 89.7 KAWA Sanger TX (formerly KVRK) last year, the company has been attempting to upgrade its signal in the Dallas market. In March they gained a CP to increase from a Class C1 with 14kW/518m to a C0 with 45kW/518m. Now they are applying to move all the way to a Class C.

Evansville Welcomes Edge To FM

University of Southern Indiana Alternative 820 WSWI Evansville has added 95.7 W239CI and relaunched as “95.7 The Edge“. The 250 watt translator brings the Alternative format to FM in Evansville on the student operated station. With the addition of the FM signal, USI will move its broadcasts of its baseball and men’s and women’s basketball games from Evansville-Vanderburgh Schools’ 90.7 WPSR, although WSWI will continue to produce high school sports for WPSR.

Station Sales Seven Mountains Media has purchased Farm & Home Broadcasting Company’s Hot AC simulcast “104.5/92.3 The Buzz” 104.5 WNBT-FM Wellsboro/92.3 WNBQ Mansfield PA and Standards 1490 WNBT/92.9 W225AT Wellsboro PA for $400,000. Toccoa Falls College sells its four stations and two translators to Radio Training Network for $2.1 million. The stations involved are Christian AC 90.9 WRAF Toccoa Falls GA and simulcasters 88.5 WEPC Belton SC, 92.1 W221AZ Liliburn GA, and 1480 WPFJ/100.9 W265AZ Franklin NC and Silent 89.7 WTXR Toccoa Falls GA. Family Life Ministries sells Erie rimshot 102.7 WCGM Wattsburg PA to Sam Jordan’s Williamsport Broadcasting for $840,000. Educational Media Foundation is acquiring three stations from affiliates of Withers Broadcasting. EMF will pay WYNG, LLC $450,000 for what is now AC 94.9 WYNG Mount Carmel IL/Evansville IN. WYNG will join EMF’s “K-Love” Christian AC network as a satellite of 91.9 KLVR Middletown CA. The K-Love programming is already heard in the Evansville market on 95.3 WKVN Morganfield KY, whose coverage reaches the areas where WYNG does not. EMF will also acquire two stations in Keokuk IA paying $500,000 for Withers Broadcasting of Iowa’s Classic Hits “Kool 95.3” KOKX-FM and David Lister’s Classic Rock 96.3 KRNQ.
