KBVA Fayetteville To Relaunch As Lite 106.5

When Hog Radio closes on its acquisition of Variety Radio Group Soft AC “Variety 106.5” KBVA Bella Vista/Fayetteville AR on Tuesday, August 1, it will relaunch the station as “Lite 106.5“. The station will position itself as “The Best Variety of Timeless Classics” while the Westside Eagle-Observer reports that the company “promises only minor changes.” Hog Radio purchased KBVA in April for $1.15 million. It will become the company’s fifth station in the Fayetteville market joining Country “96.7 The Coyote” KCYT, Sports “ESPN 99.5” KAKS/1290 KUOA, and Classic Hits “Star 101.5” KFMD.

Perry Broadcasting launched Urban “Kiss 105.3” 1340 KQIS/105.3 K287AN Fayetteville AR. Perry acquired the now former Christian AC “105.3 The Voice” KFMD from Hog Radio in October for $50,000. The new format launched on Saturday morning promoting 25,000 songs without commercials and “Nonstop Hip-Hop & R&B hits all over NW Arkansas”. KQIS is now the only Urban targeted station in the market.

Station Sales Oklahoma City based Perry Broadcasting is expanding to Fayetteville AR via a pair of acquisitions. Perry will acquire 1340 KFMD Bethel Heights from Hog Radio for $350,000 and 105.3 K287AN Fayetteville from Don Campbell for $50,000. The two stations currently air a Christian AC format as “105.3 The Voice” but will likely flip to Perry’s specialty within the Urban realm. Station Sales Radio Disney continued the sell-off of its stations with 1560 WQEW New York going to Family Radio and The Word Network purchasing 910 WFDF Farmington Hills/Detroit. In other previously reported deals this week, Simmons Media purchased Spanish Peaks Broadcasting’s cluster in Missoula, MT and Idaho Wireless purchased Pacific Empire Broadcasting’s 102.5 KMGI and 930 KSEI Pocatello, ID. Original Report 11/22: Hog Radio is preparing to launch a new Country station in Fayetteville, AR. 96.7 KCYT Ozark has completed its move-in to Fayetteville and is currently testing with automated Hip-Hop. That will end on soon when the station flips to Country “96.7 The Coyote“. The station has hired Darren Wilhite and Tim Wall for mornings. We start this update with a number of translator sales. Mount Wilson FM continues its expansion in Monterey, CA with the purchase of 94.7 K234AW Monterey from One Ministries for $90,000. The 18 watt translator holds a CP to relocate to 95.1 as K236BK with 250 watts. Once Mount Wilson closes on its recent purchase of 1240 KNRY Salinas, the translator will be used to bring that station to FM. Mount Wilson also purchased 97.9 KYZZ from Buckley last month. Zimmer Radio will bring News/Talk 950 KWOS Jefferson City, MO to FM following its purchase of 100.9 K265CT from Lifesounds, Inc for $35,000. Cumulus Looks To Take Four Out Of Trust

Cumulus Media is attempting to bring four stations back into its fold. The stations were placed in either the Last Bastion Station Trust or Volt Radio following previous Citadel restructuring and the merger between Citadel and Cumulus. With changed market definitions, Cumulus now looks to take these stations back. They are: AC “Warm 94.9” KRMW Cedarville, AR. The station changed city of license from Praire Grove in 2011, which moved it from the Fayetteville, AR market to Fort Smith. Cumulus says that is enough to allow it to reabsorb the station.
