After ten years in the Last Bastion Divestiture Trust from the Citadel Broadcasting purchase of ABC Radio, Cumulus Media has sold Sports “105.3 The Pro” KINB Kingfisher/Oklahoma City OK to Perry Media Group for $225,000. Perry owns Urban AC “Heart & Soul 92.1” 1140 KRMP/92.1 K221FQ Oklahoma City and Urban “Power 103.5” KVSP Anadarko in the market. Following the sale of its two other Houma LA stations to Lisa Stiglets and Elizabeth McQueen’s JLE, Inc earlier this month, My Home Team Media has sold Classic Rock “LA 106.3” KXOR-FM Thibodaux to Educational Media Foundation for $525,000. KBTK Moves To 97.1

Grenax Broadcasting Conservative Talk “105.1 The Big Talker” KBTK Kachina Village/Flagstaff AZ has completed its move to 97.1. The move of KBTK was mandated by Univison’s upgrade of 105.3 KHOV-FM Wickenburg AZ to as a Class C1 on 105.1 to improve its coverage of the Phoenix market. KBTK continues to operate as a C2 with 5kW/444m.

FCC Report 7/3: WALR-FM Atlanta To Make Significant Downgrade

After losing its battle to return Urban AC "Kiss 104.1" WALR-FM Palmetto/Atlanta GA to its previous Class C0 status, Cox Media has applied to downgrade it.

Shine Returns To Flagstaff & Prescott

Following the sale and flip of 90.9 KGCB Prescott AZ and its three translators to Educational Media Foundation’s “K-Love” network, the locally programmed “Arizona Shine” Christian AC format has returned to Flagstaff and Prescott via Great Circle Media. Great Circle flipped 1450 KNOT Prescott from Oldies “Fun Oldies” in mid-October paired with 103.9 K265CI Prescott (just moved from 100.9) with the former staff of Grand Canyon Broadcasting’s KGCB operating the station. Now the station has added a new signal in Flagstaff as 99.3 K257FI Parks has signed-on with 132 watts at 589 meters (Coverage Map).

FCC Update 8/9: One Texas Station Forced To Modify; Another Deleted

In March, the FCC issued an Order To Show Cause to LKCM Country “95.9 the Ranch” KFWR Jacksboro/Fort Worth, TX over its use of a side-mounted antenna sending double the licensed power including in the direction of Lake Country Radio’s 95.9 KCKL Malakoff, TX. The agency sought for KFWR to give reasons why KFWR’s total power output shouldn’t be dropped from 25kW to 9.1kW to limit the radiation to 100kW in all directions, while reclassifying their antenna system as directional. A response from KFWR offered to remove the mounting pole and parasitics from the antenna. KFWR took great offense to the reclassification as directional as the agency had previously not established how much distortion is permitted while using a side-mounted non-directional antenna. Station Sales Week Of 7/17: EMF Grows In Arizona Too

While the focus has been on their expansion in South Florida this week, Educational Media Foundation is also growing in Arizona. Grand Canyon Broadcasters sells 90.7 KGCB Prescott, 90.7 K214DT Flagstaff, and 101.9 K270BA Wickenburg to EMF for $1 million. Upon closing of the sale KGCB will flip from its locally programmed “90.9 Shine-FM” Christian AC format to “K-Love“. Tyler Media is purchasing three translators around Tulsa, OK. John Jason Bennett sells 107.7 K299BL Tulsa and 107.9 K300CY Coweta to Tyler for $480,000, while Bennett’s Screen Door Broadcasting sells 107.7 K299BP Coweta for $10,000. FCC Applications 7/5: AM Changes In San Francisco & Twin Cities

Station Moves US International Radio’s pending acquisition Spanish Sports “ESPN Deportes 860” KTRB San Francisco seeks to combine its daytime and nighttime patterns onto the same tower. KTRB currently diplexes in the daytime on one of the four towers of Salem’s 1100 KFAX San Francisco with 50kW. At night KTRB applies to utilize all four of KFAX’s towers to operate with a directional 5kW pointed due west downgrading from the 50kW the station is currently operating with.

Station Sales Towers Investment Trust is selling Active Rock “103.7 The Eagle” KZGL Flagstaff, AZ to Rick Murphy’s Murphy Air LLC for $850,000. Murphy owns a cluster of stations serving the Laughlin, NV/Lake Havasu City, AZ, but this will be his entrance into Flagstaff. Towers Investment Trust purchased KZGL out of receivership in 2010 for $350,000. Family Stations is selling Silent 1460 KARR Kirkland/Seattle to engineer James Dalke for $3000. KARR has been operating from a temporary tower site under an STA since its previous site was sold to become a housing development and did not renew its lease with the station. Roger and Nancy Anderson’s Southwest Media is converting its LMA of CHR “Hits 106” KFSZ Munds Park/Flagstaff, AZ from LKCM Radio Group into a purchase for $491,000. Operating as Great Circle Media, the buyers own five other stations in the Flagstaff market. Mark Jorgenson’s ACM Dallas is purchasing 700 KHSE Wylie and 990 KFCD Farmersville, TX in the Dallas/Fort Worth market from Barnard Dallas for $475,000. Jorgenson also is adding James Crystal Radio’s 1480 KBXD Dallas to his holdings in the market as part of his $5.5 million purchase of that company’s stations out of bankruptcy. Sunny Moves In Flagstaff; KVNA-FM Flips To AAA

Yavapai Broadcasting has made a pair of moves at its stations in Flagstaff, AZ. AC “Sunny 100.1” KVNA-FM has moved to 600 KVNA/104.7 K284BO Flagstaff where it replaces the pair’s previous News/Talk/Sports format. This places the “Sunny” brand on its third frequency in Flagstaff following its move from 97.5 to 100.1 in 2006 when 97.5 was moved into the Phoenix market. Translator Moves Steve Hedgwood’s Core Communicators recently launched Urban Oldies “Old School 99.3” on Edgewater Broadcasting’s W257DF Dallas, GA rebroadcasting 1010 WTZA Atlanta. Now the translator applies to move to downtown Atlanta with 99 watts at 263 meters (Coverage Map). Radio-One may be adding an additional FM signal in Baltimore. Hope Christian Church of Marlton is seeking to move 102.3 W272BJ Fairlee, MD across Chesapeake Bay where it would operate with 99 watts ant 335 meters rebroadcasting Radio-One’s 1010 WOLB Baltimore (Coverage Map).
