FCC Report 10/23: WALI heads to Hilton Head

Concurrent with Apex Media's purchase of Hot AC "i93.7" WALI Walterboro SC from Premiere Enterprises for $325,000, the station has filed to move to Burton SC while upgrading to a Class C3. The move will shift WALI into the Beaufort/Hilton Head Island market where it will operate with 11kW/150m. To keep first local service in Walterboro, Grace Baptist Church of Orangeburg has applied to change the city-of-license of 810 WWOS St. George to Walterboro.

Forever Broadcasting & Keymarket Licenses To Merge

Three of Kerby Confer and Donald Alt’s broadcast holding companies are merging. Forever of PA, LLC, Keymarket Licenses, and Forever Broadcasting LLC will merge into FM Radio Licenses, LLC. The combined company will own 45 stations and 1 translator in Pennsylvania, Ohio, and West Virginia including Forever’s stations in Altoona, Johnstown, Meadville/Franklin, New Castle, State College and Keymarket’s stations in Pittsburgh and Uniontown, PA and Wheeling, WV. Curtis Media Group’s Eastern Airwaves has acquired a pair of translator CP’s in North Carolina. From Community Public Radio, Eastern Airwaves added 97.7 W249CN Fairfield, NC for $125,000. The 250 watt translator will put a city grade signal over Greensboro where it will be used to rebroadcast Curtis’ “Triad Sports” 1320 WCOG. From Bible Broadcasting Network, Eastern Airwaves acquired 94.3 W232CI Fayetteville for $47,500. The 30 watt translator is currently licensed to rebroadcast Bible Broadcasting’s 91.1 WYBH Fayetteville.
