Townsquare Media’s Ft. Collins/Lafayette Divestiture Trust has flipped Active Rock “Planet 105.1” KFTE Abbeville/Lafayette LA to Classic Rock to coincide with the addition of Walton & Johnson for mornings. Walton & Johnson’s show debuted on Tuesday replacing Free Beer & Hot Wings. The addition of KFTE fills in the coverage in Lafayette caused by the switch in Baton Rouge from Guaranty Broadcasting’s “Eagle 98.1” WDGL to iHeartMedia’s 1150 WJBO/97.7 K249DV. The musical shift followed on Thursday, January 19 along with the rebranding to “Classic Rock 105.1“.
Acadia Broadcast Partners has flipped Cajun “Bayou 106.7” KSIG-FM Rayne/1450 KSIG Crowley, LA back to Classic Country “Pure Country 106.7“. This is a return to Classic Country for the station as it was “Country Legends 106.7” KLEJ from 2009 until it flipped to Cajun in January 2012.
Delta Media has expanded Classic Country “Mustang 87.7” KXKW-LP Lafayette, LA to an additional signal. Sister Hot AC “Mix 107.1” KOGM Opelousas has dropped its format to simulcast KXKW-LP. The simulcast doesn’t do much to extend the coverage are of Mustang, however with the LPTV analog shutdown coming next year, it allows the format to transition to a traditional radio frequency. KXKW-LP registered a 0.8 share in the Spring 2014 Nielsen Audio ratings, while KOGM did not subscribe. The end of “Mix 107.1” makes two Lafayette area stations to drop their format today, along with “Rock 93.7” KRDJ.
Update 7/31: KRDJ will end its Rock format at sometime after the sale closes on Friday morning. When Bible Broadcasting closes on KRDJ, The Lafayette Daily Advertiser reports the station will go dark until the Fall while studio repairs are made. A pair of KRDJ’s staffers are transferring to Cumulus’ “Rock 101” 101.3 KKGB Lake Charles. Morning host Jace Edwards will host afternoons at KKGB, while middayer Rach will fill the same shift there. After being dark since being acquired by Delta Media, former News/Talk 106.3 KYMK-FM Maurice/Lafayette, LA has returned to the air as AAA “106.3 Radio Lafayette“. The station is highlighting that it will feature independent and local artists.
Update 5/15: With Delta Media taking control of Pitman Broadcasting Services Lafayette cluster, all four stations have dropped their previous formats. 1330 KVOL Lafayette/106.3 KYMK-FM are currently running a silent carrier in place of the former News/Talk format. 1520 KFXZ Lafayette has dropped its Urban AC “Z1520” format in favor of Spanish Adult Hits “Juan“. The Urban AC format has moved back to KFXZ-FM Opelousas as “Z105.9” in place of its previous “Cat Country 105.9” identity. Pittman Broadcasting Services flipped formats at a pair of its stations in Lafayette LA on Sunday afternoon. Urban AC/Zydeco “Z105.9” KFXZ-FM Opelousas moves its programming to 1520 KFXZ where it replaces Gospel “Rejoice 1520” KFXZ Lafayette. 105.9 has shifted to Country as “Cat Country 98.9“. Cat Country will feature the syndicated Tony & Kris in mornings, Bill Dutrey from sister “Cat Country 98.9” WUUU Franklinton LA in middays, and station GM Beau Gast in afternoons.
Update 6/12: KOGM made the shift to Hot AC “Mix 107.1” at 12am this morning. The format positions Mix directly in-between Cumulus CHR 94.5 KSMB and Townsquare Media AC 99.9 KTDY. The station has picked up the syndicated Kidd Kraddick for mornings followed by Hope Ford in middays and T.J. in afternoons. Delta Media Corporation has registered domains directed towards a flip of Classic Rock “Snap 103.7” KLWB-FM to go Sports using Fox Sports Radio. 1037TheGame.com and FoxSports1037TheGame.com were registered last week for use by the station. @1037TheGame on Twitter is up with a logo for the new format.
