WBLI Moves Syke & MJ To Mornings

Cox Media Group CHR 106.1 WBLI Patchouge NY has moved afternoon hosts Syke & MJ to mornings starting Monday, September 17. Syke has been hosting afternoons at WBLI since 2014 and was paired with night host MJ in 2016 for “Drive Time Live”. The duo replace the Cooper Lawrence Show. Cox Enterprises To Explore Strategic Options For Television Stations

Cox Enterprises has announced that it is exploring its strategic options for its 14 television stations in regards to selling, merging with another operator, or partnering with another to manage. Cox currently owns or operates fourteen stations across ten markets. In five of those markets: Atlanta, Dayton, Jacksonville, Orlando and Tulsa it also operates a radio cluster whose management is completely intertwined with the television stations. Update 4/20:After launching with a retrospective of the original 1980’s Alternative 92.7 WLIR-FM Garden City NY and its later incarnation in the late 90s/early 2000s, VMT Media’s 107.1 WLIR-FM Hampton Bays and 96.9 W245BA Manorville NY flipped to Classic Hits “107.1/96.9 Real FM“. Positioning as “Long Island’s Real Mix of Classic Hits”, the station is focusing on hits of the 1970s through 90s with an emphasis on the 1980s. Just eight months after both returning to Entercom Rhythmic CHR “KS 107.5” KQKS Lakewood/Denver CO as part of the station’s revamped morning show, Mario ‘DJ Chonz’ Rodriguez and Mercedes ‘Ya Girl Cedes’ Howard have exited the station. Tamara Gant has announced her exit from her position as producer/co-host of the syndicated Michael Baisden Show to join Entercom AC “101.5 Lite-FM” WLYF Miami as morning co-host starting Monday, January 22. The move to WLYF will reunite her with incumbent co-host Julie Guy, where they were known as “Those 2 Girls in The Morning” on Cox Media Group AC “97.3 The Coast” WFLC from 2006 to 2012. VMT Media’s 107.1 WLIR Hampton Bays NY is on the verge of a format change. WLIR dropped its Christian “Hope Radio” programming on January 1 and is currently running an unbranded mix of Oldies and Classic Rock along with 96.9 W245BA Manorville NY (which had been simulcasting Soft AC 94.7 WLIX-LP until that station’s sign-off on December 31). VMT Media, headed by Vincent Trapiani, bought out Richard Anderson’s Holding Out Hope Church’s 51% share of the station last May for assumption of debt and a three year non-compete agreement that started on January 1. As Pine Barrens Broadcasting intends to shut down Soft Oldies 94.7 WLIX-LP Ridge NY at 12pm on Sunday, December 31, Apple Community Broadcasting will expand their own Soft AC “101.5 The Breeze” W268AN Plainview to one of WLIX’s translators. Fitzgerald & Hawras Partnership and Sound Communications are entering a Coordinated Modification Agreement in which Fitzgerald & Hawras’ Oldies “Cool 96” 96.1 WPHD South Waverly PA and Sound AC “Magic 92.7” WENY-FM Elmira NY will exchange licenses but retain programming on their current frequencies. Apple Community Broadcasting has launched Soft AC “101.5 The Breeze” W268AN Plainview via 93.5 WVIP-HD4 New Rochelle NY. The new format serves the area along the Nassau and Suffolk County lines on Long Island including Bethpage, Hicksville, Melville, and Syosset. The 13w/119m translator had most recently been airing Spanish Christian “Radio Cantico Nuevo” programming. The station is promoting itself as playing “all your favorite songs from 1960’s – Today Artist like: Elton John, Doobie Brothers, Bruce Springsteen, Journey, Carly Simon, Lionel Richie, Billy Joel, Air Supply, and Chicago”.

Tor will also purchase Classic Country “93.5 Chet-FM” KDJF Ester from Tanana Valley Radio for $275,000.
