Following their purchase of three Macon GA area stations, Creek Media has announced it will flip Classic Hits 100.9 WNEX-FM Perry to AAA “The Creek 100.9” on Friday, July 8. The ownership will be renamed McKernan Radio Group as Markel will pay McKernan $1.25 million over a five year employment contract to program KFNS and move his “Morning After” show to the station for 7-10am weekdays. Airing on 93.1 W226BZ Macon/107.1 WFXM-HD4 Gordon, 99.5 W258AP Warner Robins/107.5 WRWR-HD2 Cochran and 1150 WXKO Fort Valley, the trio brings ESPN Radio programming back to Macon for the first time since 1500 WAYS dropped it for CBS Sports Radio when that network launched in 2013. Educational Media Foundation has closed on its $625,000 purchase of “Rock 105.5” WROK-FM Macon GA from Cumulus Media’s Joule Broadcasting divestiture trust. WROK-FM has flipped from Rock to EMF’s “K-Love” Christian AC network. That had been heard in the market on the combination of Flinn Broadcasting’s 102.1 WWWD Bolingbroke and EMF’s 102.5 WZCH Warner Robins.
Station Sales Educational Media Foundation and American Family Association are swapping a total of ten properties. EMF will send four stations to AFA: 88.3 KAWA Alice TX, 88.1 KKWA Aransas Pass/Corpus Christi TX, 91.9 KMRL Buras LA and 1220 WKTZ Jacksonville FL. AFA also gains an option to purchase 101.9 W270CD Jacksonville FL.
