Cox Enterprises has announced that it is exploring its strategic options for its 14 television stations in regards to selling, merging with another operator, or partnering with another to manage. Cox currently owns or operates fourteen stations across ten markets. In five of those markets: Atlanta, Dayton, Jacksonville, Orlando and Tulsa it also operates a radio cluster whose management is completely intertwined with the television stations. Social media posting indicate that Karen Carson remains in mornings solo following the exit of co-host Jeffrey Jameson with the format change. Midday host Christine Richie has moved to nights from 7pm-12am. Mike Adam remains in afternoons from 3-7pm. Former night host Cane Peterson is moving across the hall to mornings at Alternative “Alt 92.3” WNYL. Yojhans ‘JP’ Perez, who exited mornings at Entercom Rhythmic CHR “Power 96” 96.5 WPOW-FM Miami in January will join Revolution 93.5 alongside co-host Lady Gigi starting Monday, June 18. Perez worked at WPOW for twelve years starting as an intern before moving up to nights and then mornings in 2012. JP’s entrance leads to the exit of Joe Raineri after just over a year in the morning slot. Raineri joined the station in May 2017 after runs in mornings at Hot AC 97.9 WRMF and Sports 640 WMEN West Palm Beach.
Along with the departure of afternoon host Felisha Monet from Cox Media Group Urban “99 Jamz” WEDR Miami, Rick Party has exited the same daypart at sister Urban AC “Hot 105” WHQT. Party joined WHQT for afternoons in 2013 and was later joined by Benji Brown. When the station picked up the relaunched Michael Baisden in February 2017 the duo moved to 12-3pm and then returned to afternoons at the start of 2018. Afternoon host Felisha Monet is departing Cox Media Group Urban “99 Jamz” WEDR Miami after a decade at the station. The Fort Lauderdale Sun-Sentinel reports that Monet is exiting to focus on her nonprofit “I Am Greater Than Yesterday”, telling the paper “I am excited to start this new chapter in my life and career. Having a long career with 99 Jamz was a dream and a goal – and I’m happy that I can place a check mark next to that. I’m excited about what’s happening next – and eager to enter into the next chapter.” Monet joined WEDR in 2008 and moved her way up from overnights to nights replacing DJ Khaled and then afternoons.
