Jimmy Steele Adds WABD Mobile PD Duties As Sid Kelly Moves To Energy 93.9 Indianapolis

Cumulus Media has announced that Sid Kelly is moving from the Program Director position at CHR 97.5 WABD Mobile to the same slot at “Energy 93.9” WYRG Lawrence/Indianapolis IN. Filling Kelly’s opening in Mobile will be Jimmy Steele. Steele joined Cumulus Mobile in June 2017 as Operation Manager and midday host at WABD. 92.5 The Crab Debuts In Mobile

Dot Com Plus has launched “92.5 The Crab” W223BX Saraland/Mobile AL. Fed via 92.1 WZEW-HD2, the “Crab” name is an acronym for “Classic Rock And Blues”. Program Director Tim Camp tells AL.com that the station will emphasize deeper cuts. The launch places W223BX up against iHeartMedia Classic Rock “96.1 The Rocket” WRKH, which currently ranks second in the market with a 5.8 share.

Hallelujah Launches In Mobile

After its Urban “Beat” format and branding was moved to 107.3 WRGV Pensacola in December, iHeartMedia has finally launched a new format on 100.3 W262BL/99.9 WMXC-HD2 Mobile AL. W262BL flipped to Gospel “Hallelujah 100.3” this morning. The new format gives an FM competitor to Cumulus’ 900 WGOK Mobile and Eternity Media Group’s 1220 WERM Fairhope.

Cumulus Appoints New Mobile Market Manager

Cumulus Media has promoted Don Boyd to VP/Market Manager of its five stations in Mobile AL. Boyd has spent the past three years as General Sales Manager for the company’s Atlanta GA properties and also worked for the company from 2001-2008 as GSM of its Nashville properties. He has also served as Regional Manager for Bott Radio Network, Vice President of Advertising for Dickey Publishing, Regional Generl Manager of Root Communications during his career. 107.3 WRGV Pensacola Flips to Urban

iHeartMedia has flipped CHR “107.3 Kiss-FM” WRGV Pensacola FL to Urban “107.3 The Beat“. WRGV assumes the programming and branding of 100.3 W262BL/99.9 WMXC-HD2 Mobile AL as the station covers both markets. W262BL registered a 1.5 share in the Mobile market in the Summer 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings, while Cumulus Media’s competing Urban 92.9 WBLX was second overall with a 11.2 share. WRGV registered a 2.5 share in the Spring 2017 ratings in the Pensacola market and now leaves Cumulus’ 97.5 WABD Mobile as the only CHR in either market.

Cumulus Media is syndicating Tony Zazza and Cheree Carter’s morning show based at CHR “107.1 WA1A” WAOA Melbourne FL to sister stations “Z96” 96.5 WZNS Fort Walton Beach and 97.5 WABD Mobile AL. “Zazza Mornings with Cheree” will debut on both stations on Monday, September 26. In both markets the current morning shows will move to another daypart. At WZNS Gilligan will move from mornings to 9am-2pm, with Hayden adding the 2pm hour to his afternoon show. iHeartMedia and The University of South Alabama are partnering to launch Sports “99.5 The Jag” W258AY Mobile AL on Saturday, April 2. The new station will simulcast the Uncle Henry morning show from sister Conservative Talk 710 WNTM from 5-9am and Fox Sports Radio the rest of the day.
