Immaculate Heart Media Adds Second New York Area AM

Immaculate Heart Media is purchasing 1160 WVNJ Oakland NJ from Universal Broadcasting of New York for $750,000. The current Brokered Talk format will give way to Immaculate Heart Media’s Catholic “Relevant Radio” network. WVNJ’s signal mostly covering the highly Catholic areas of Bergen and Passaic Counties in New Jersey and Westchester and Rockland Counties in New York complements Immaculate Heart’s 1430 WNSW Newark, which covers New York City and adjacent New Jersey counties.

Alex Silverman Joins KYW As Program Director

Entercom News 1060 KYW Philadelphia has appointed Alex Silverman as Program Director effective September 24. Silverman joins KYW from co-owned 880 WCBS New York, where he was promoted to Assistant Director of News & Programming earlier this year. He has previously served as morning news anchor at WSYR Syracuse while in college at Syracuse University and and then a reporter and anchor at KIRO-FM Seattle. Medha Ghandi Joins Elvis Duran Show

iHeartMedia’s Elvis Duran and the Morning Show has announced Medha Gandhi will join the show on September 17 as its new co-host. Gandhi joins the show from iHeart’s “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM Boston where she currently serves as Executive Producer and co-host of Matty in the Morning. She has also served in a similar role for WNCI Columbus’ Dave and Jimmy Show and works as a comedy writer, parody song producer and voicetracker. Following the relaunch of 102.7 WNEW New York last week, pieces of the on-air puzzle have begun to be revealed. Social media posting indicate that Karen Carson remains in mornings solo following the exit of co-host Jeffrey Jameson with the format change. Midday host Christine Richie has moved to nights from 7pm-12am. Mike Adam remains in afternoons from 3-7pm. Former night host Cane Peterson is moving across the hall to mornings at Alternative “Alt 92.3” WNYL. Entercom’s revision of 102.7 WNEW New York is complete as the station drops its “Fresh” moniker for “The New 102.7“. With a slight musical tweak, WNEW is now positioning itself as “Upbeat Variety For Your Workday” as it takes its expected move against iHeartMedia’s market-leading AC “106.7 Lite-FM” WLTW. Jimenez, who returned to WXNY in March 2017, has been hosting mornings in the New York market for the last 25 years. He spent 15 years at SBS’ “Mega 97.9” WSKQ until jumping to WXNY predecessor 105.9 WCAA in 2008. Pacifica & Empire State Building Reach Settlement To Avoid Asset Seizures; WBAI To Move

Pacifica Foundation’s 99.5 WBAI New York has reached a settlement with Empire State Realty Trust over the $1,819,687.52 in unpaid rent Pacifica was ordered to pay last October. Under the terms of the settlement, Pacifica states that it will be relieved of the judgment, additional rent and and penalties accrued since the judgement, and any remaining obligations that were to be incurred after May 31, 2018. No financial terms of the settlement were revealed but Pacifica states it will pay it off through a loan from FJC that allows the foundation to not make payments for the first 18 months of the loan and only on interest payments for the following 18 months.
