We 96.3 Portland Adds Dana Cortez Show For Mornings

Alpha Media has announced another affiliate for the newly syndicated Dana Cortez Show as it adds it for mornings at Rhythmic CHR “We 96.3” KWEE West Linn/Portland. The show will debut on Monday, August 27 in the 6-10am timeslot and follows the addition of the show at “Energy 94.1” KTFM San Antonio and American General Media’s “Kiss 97.3” KKSS Albuquerque yesterday. KWEE had been jockless in mornings. Beginning Monday, August 27, Alpha Media Portland’s WE 96.3 (KWEE) will air the Dana Cortez Show from 6am until 10 am. Cort Johnson Moves Back To KINK As APD/Afternoon Host

Alpha Media AAA 101.9 KINK Portland has announced that Cort Johnson is returning to the station as Assistant Program Director/Afternoon Host. Johnson co-hosted mornings on KINK until April 2017 before moving to sister News/Talk 101.1 KXL as a reporter and anchor. He was then appointed National Digital Content Producer for Alpha Media in March. Prior to coming to Portland in 2011, Johnson served as APD/Morning Host at Alternative “107.5 The End” KENZ Salt Lake City. Salem Swaps One In Seattle For One In Portland

After beginning to operate a Portland AM via LMA earlier this year, Salem Media is acquiring one of them outright. Salem will swap 1300 KKOL Seattle to Tron Dinh Do’s Intelli LLC in exchange for 860 KPAM Troutdale/Portland OR. Intelli purchased KPAM and 1550 KKOV Vancouver WA in 2017 for $1.2 million. Upon closing of the sale, Salem began operating KPAM as Conservative Talk “860 The Answer” and Intelli flipped KKOV from Adult Standards to its Vietnamese programming.

Salem Shuffles Programming At Three Portland AMs

Salem Media has adjusted the brands and programming lineups at three of its Portland OR AMs. Talk 860 KPAM Pamplin, which Salem begin operating via LMA earlier this year, has rebranded as “860 The Answer“. With the rebranding KPAM has trimmed an hour off of its morning show hosted by Tim Hohl and Terry Travis to run from 6-9am. That allows the station to add a third hour of Salem’s Dennis Prager Show which will now run from 9am-12pm. From 12-3pm the station swaps out the Clark Howard Show for Laura Ingraham. Educational Media Foundation’s “K-Love” launched a new on-air lineup in January. The morning show hosted by Skip Mahaffey and Amy Baumann remains in place from 6-11am eastern/3-8am pacific. Afternoon host Scott Smith moves to middays to reteam with Kelli Caldwell in the 11am-4pm/8am-1pm slot replacing Mike Kankelfritz who left in November. Longtime San Diego morning host Jeff Detrow of “Jeff & Jer” fame has joined as co-host of the 4-9pm/1-6pm afternoon show. Detrow will be paired with former night host Randi Tyler, while Larry Wayne takes the 9pm-3am/6pm-12am slot. Following the departure of Sheila Hamilton last week, Alpha Media News/Talk 101.1 KXL-FM Portland has appointed Lucinda Kay and Cooper Banks as co-anchors for “Portland’s Afternoon News” from 4-7pm weekdays. Kay has worked as a television reporter and talk show host in Spokane and as a communications consultant. She has worked for KXL on a freelance basis since 2016. Banks joins the station from Entercom News/Talk 98.1 KMBZ-FM Kansas City where he worked as a producer, reporter, and news anchor. Sheila Hamilton has exited her position as afternoon anchor at Alpha Media News/Talk 101.1 KXL-FM Portland. Hamilton co-hosted mornings at sister AAA 101.9 KINK from 2002 until April 2017. She added anchoring duties for KXL’s 4-7pm news block in 2016. She came to radio after working as a reporter at television stations in Salt Lake City and Portland from 1984-2000. Hamilton told Willamette Week that she is waiting until final negotiations have been resolved to issue a statement explaining what happened.

The objectors alleged the translator would create interference to 94.1 WFNU-LP St. Paul, but after suggesting 104.9 would be a usable frequency for the translator (which it cannot be after the grant of K285CQ St. Paul this week) and Hubbard dropped the proposed power from 10 watts to 2, the FCC could not find any WFNU-LP listener address which would be within the 60dBu contour of the translator. Alpha Media Country “98.7 The Bull” KUPL Portland has announced the addition of Jenn Hays to the station’s morning show alongside Tony Russell and Jake Byron. iHeartMedia Sports “Rip City Radio” 620 KPOJ Portland and NBC Sports Northwest have agreed to a content partnership that will see the station rebrand as “NBC Sports Northwest Rip City Radio” are share nine hours of weekday programming daily. KXTG Portland Cuts Two Local Dayparts; Readds Jim Rome

Alpha Media Sports “750/102.9 The Game” KXTG Portland/K275CH Gresham OR has cut its local afternoon show hosted by Justin Myers and DeVon Pouncey. Myers and Pouncey were first teamed at KXTG in June when they were paired for the 9am-12pm show. Myers had previously co-hosted afternoons with Noah ‘Chop’ Homsley from February through June until the brief tenure of Dino Costa in that daypart. Homsley, who serves as Assistant Program Director at KXTG, had been filling in again in afternoons until this week. The station is now going with CBS Sports Radio programming in both dayparts.
