After a previous deal to merge with Aruba Capital Holdings and Port Broadcasting to create Coastal Media Partners failed to close, Garrison City Broadcasting is selling AC “98.7 The Bay” WBYY Somersworth/Portsmouth and News/Talk 1270 WTSN Dover NH to Binnie Media. The $2.1 million purchase will bring Binnie their first two stations in Portsmouth to join their fourteen other stations in Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont and WBIN-TV Derry NH. Binnie began operating WBYY and WTSN via LMA on April 7.
Clear Channel News/Talk “96.7 The Wave” WQSO Rochester/Portsmouth, NH has rebranded as “Newsradio 96.7“. The rebranding comes along with a realignment of the station’s on-air schedule to completely match that of sister News/Talk 610 WGIR Manchester. Together the pair are branding as the “New Hampshire News Network“. Jack Heath, former VP/News Director of WMUR-TV has joined both stations for mornings. He will be followed by the Premiere Radio Networks trinity of Glenn Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and Sean Hannity. The Daily Wrap, White House Brief, and Ground Zero With Clyde Lewis round out the stations lineups.

Clear Channel has flipped Oldies “96.7 The Wave” WQSO Rochester/Portsmouth, NH to News/Talk while keeping the “Wave” moniker. Also staying are Imus in the Morning and Boston Red Sox play-by-play. Joining the station are Glenn Beck for 9am to Noon, Rush Limbaugh from 12pm to 3pm, Sean Hannity from 3pm to 6pm, Michael Savage from 6pm to 10pm, and Coast to Coast with George Noory overnights. All of those programs had recently aired in the Portsmouth area on 1540 WGIP, which was spun-off from Clear Channel in March and flipped to local Talk as WXEX.
Update 1/14/08 – At 6:00am today, WUBB became “Kiss 95.3” simulcasting sister “Kiss 108” WXKS-FM Boston along with local traffic and weather breaks.
