SBS Moves La Zeta In Western Puerto Rico

As facilities are rebuilt in Puerto Rico following the devastation of Hurricane Maria, stations are starting to come back online but not necessarily with what they carried before. Spanish Broadcasting System made such a move this week as 97.5 WIOB Mayaguez has returned to the air as a simulcast of Salsa “Z93” 93.7 WZNT San Juan serving the western half of the island. Prior to the hurricane, WZNT’s programming was on International Broadcasting Corporation’s 92.1 WZET Hormigueros via LMA and SBS’ 93.3 WZMT Ponce. Educational Media Foundation’s Christian AC “K-Love” will enter Puerto Rico for the first time as the company purchases Rock “Alfa Rock 105.7” WCAD San Juan from Broadcasting & Programming Systems of Puerto Rico for $2.9 million. Fitzgerald & Hawras Partnership and Sound Communications are entering a Coordinated Modification Agreement in which Fitzgerald & Hawras’ Oldies “Cool 96” 96.1 WPHD South Waverly PA and Sound AC “Magic 92.7” WENY-FM Elmira NY will exchange licenses but retain programming on their current frequencies.
