Richmond Country Stations Swap Morning Hosts

A pair of morning shows have swapped stations in Richmond. Former “K95” 95.3 WKHK Colonial Heights morning co-host Bill Drake debuted last monday on Entercom’s “Big 98.5” W253BI/WRXL-HD2 to replace the Bobby Bones Show. In return, the Bobby Bones Show debuted this morning on SummitMedia’s WKHK replacing Drake and Lori Kelly. Kelly remains with the station in middays, while Jason Paige returns to the station for nights. Paige most recently hosted mornings at former Alpha Media 1980s Hits 107.3 WBBT. Brady Exits Mornings At Classic Rock 96.5 Richmond After Offensive Facebook Post

SummitMedia’s “Classic Rock 96.5” WKLR-FM Fort Lee/Richmond VA has parted ways with morning host Gene ‘Brady’ DeAngelo following an offensive post made on his personal Facebook page. DeAngelo made a since deleted post about a woman sitting in a bar that went in all the wrong directions. As with anything online, it has been archived elsewhere to see where he went wrong and use it as a teachable moment. DeAngelo has hosted mornings at WKLR since September 2013. He has also worked at WWUZ Fredericksburg, WXLK Roanoke, and multiple stations in the Greenville/New Bern market in his career. Educational Media Foundation sells 100.5 WLRB Goochland VA to Truth Broadcasting Corporation for $150,000. Truth intends to convert WLRB back to commercial status. Entercom AC “Mix 98.1” WTVR-FM Richmond has added Rebecca Wilde as co-host for “Wicker in the Morning”. Wilde is best known for her decade at CBS Radio Hot AC “Q104” WQAL Cleveland including seven years in mornings until her exit in 2010 to travel the world. “Out and About” wasn’t the first song that caught my attention on WUWN/WBTL (Boomtown Radio) Richmond, Va. It was just the one that made me start writing songs down. Boyce & Hart’s “I Wonder What She’s Doing Tonight” is of those top 10 records that might as well have never existed — except in my firmament — based on its acknowledgment (or lack thereof) by Oldies radio. Mobile Radio Partners has flipped Rhythmic Oldies “U Win Radio” 1450 WUWN Highland Springs/1540 WBTL Richmond VA to Oldies “Boomtown Radio“. Jeff McKee, who co-hosted mornings on Rock “XL 102” WRXL from 1989-2001, is serving as Program Director and morning host alongside longtime Orlando personality Bill Cross. McKee and Cross co-hosted mornings on “Y106” WHLY Orlando from 1982-1986. Former 96.5 WKLR and 103.7 WURV host Sharon Wingfield joins for middays. Former 107.3 WBBT midday host Kay Thomas will host afternoons. WUWN has launched its translator on 92.9 W225CU Highland Springs serving the northwest side of Richmond, while WBTL will shorty launch 94.1 W231DP serving Richmond proper.

WCVE To Take Over 93.1 WWLB/107.3 WBBT-FM Richmond On February 15

Commonwealth Public Broadcasting will begin operating Classic Country “93.1 Hank-FM” WWLB Ettrik/Petersburg and 80s Hits 107.3 WBBT-FM Powhatan/Richmond VA on Thursday, February 15 at 1pm. The two stations will eventually assume all of the Classical and Jazz programming currently heard on 88.9 WCVE-FM Richmond, 89.1 WCNV Heathsville and 90.1 WMVE Chase City as those stations will move to Public News/Talk around the clock. WCVE-FM currently airs Classical music from 9am to 3pm and 10pm to 5am with Jazz from 7-10pm weekdays.
