Beasley Media's "Interference Complaint" against 100.1 WVVF-LP Town N' Country/Tampa FL filed in July 2015 for operating as a de-facto commercial station by running a Spanish Classic Hits format and not the "educational" programming it claimed in its application was dismissed by the FCC. The FCC struck down Beasley's argument that WVVF-LP "through a predominantly music format, has failed to advance an educational program" as "The Commission has previously accepted all-music formats as advancing an educational program". "Viva 100.1" did not get off the hook completely as it entered into a Consent Decree and $2000 fine for violating the Underwriting Announcement Rule on at least one occasion.
Concurrent with Apex Media's purchase of Hot AC "i93.7" WALI Walterboro SC from Premiere Enterprises for $325,000, the station has filed to move to Burton SC while upgrading to a Class C3. To keep first local service in Walterboro, Grace Baptist Church of Orangeburg has applied to change the city-of-license of 810 WWOS St. George to Walterboro.

WXYY ranked 16th in the Savannah market with a 1.4 share in the Fall 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings. That placed well behind iHeartMedia CHR “97.3 Kiss-FM” WAEV’s third ranked 6.6 share. A flip to Classic Hip-Hop will also attempt to take share points from the other top four ranked stations in the market: Cumulus’s top rated Urban “E93” 93.1 WEAS-FM and iHeart’s combo of Urban “94.1 The Beat” WQBT and Urban AC “Love 101.1̶...[Read More]
Cumulus Media is taking Urban AC “Magic 103.9” WTYB Bluffton SC/Savannah GA back from the Joule Broadcasting trust. WTYB, then licensed to Tybee Island GA, was placed in the trust following Cumulus’ 2011 purchase of Citadel Broadcasting. The city-of-license change in 2012 to Bluffton is what Cumulus is using to as merit to reclaim the station as it would place it in the Hilton Head SC market and not Savannah GA. WTYB will also begin airing the syndicated Tom Joyner Morning Show on Thursday, February 18. The show had been heard on iHeartMedia’s “Love 101.1” WLVH until being replaced by Steve Harvey at the beginning of this year.
