Cumulus Appoints Aaron Criswell As Shreveport Market Manager

Cumulus Media has hired Aaron Criswell as VP/Market Manager for its five station cluster in Shreveport LA. Criswell comes from the same position at Adams Radio Group’s Las Cruces NM cluster. He has also served as Senior Media Consultant and Senior Marketing Manager for CBS Radio Sacramento, Senior Marketing Manager for Cumulus San Francisco, and Market Manager for Mapleton Communications San Luis Obispo. KTUX completed its shift to Classic Rock as “Highway 98.9” this morning. The Walton & Johnson Show, most recently at Alpha Media’s “98 Rocks” 98.1 KTAL-FM Texarkana TX/Shreveport, is added for mornings. Jen Austin, midday host at “Classic Rock 96.1” KKTX-FM Kilgore/Tyler TX will voicetrack middays, while Brandon Michael remains in afternoons. Veteran programmer Gary Nolan is returning to Cumulus Media as PD/Midday host at Hot AC “Q97.3” KQHN Waskom TX/Shreveport LA. Cumulus Media has relaunched CHR “i97.3” KQHN Waskom TX/Shreveport LA as Hot AC “Q97.3” as the fall ratings period gets underway today. Now branding as “Shreveport-Bossier’s Best Music”, the move comes with a revamped on-air lineup as the station picks up the syndicated Bert Show for mornings and replaces Zach Sang in nights with The Adam Bomb Show. Locally originating Shawn Dion remains in afternoons while middays are jockless. Alpha will pay $13.75 million for the nine Access.1 stations in Shreveport and Tyler. 1130 KWKH Shreveport Flips To Sports

Townsquare Media has flipped Classic Country 1130 KWKH Shreveport to Sports as “1130 The Tiger“. Tim Fletcher joins the station to host a local morning show from 7 to 9am. The rest of the lineup comes from Premiere Radio Networks and Fox Sports Radio including Dan Patrick and Jim Rome in middays. A local afternoon host will be named shortly. The station takes its name from its place as the Shreveport market affiliate of the LSU Tigers and will run LSU Football based programming on Wednesday nights. The 50kW AM has a strong signal throughout the south at night.

One of the markets that has yet to see translator action this year has been Chicago. Calvary Radio Network is looking to change that. 100.7 W264BF Englewood, IL currently operates with 2 watts from the top of the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. It has been granted a CP to upgrade to 10 watts which will give it coverage of much of the city of Chicago. The translator is currently licensed to simulcast Calvary’s 89.9 WHLP Valparaiso, IN. The maneuverings of Radio Power, Inc with its translators in Detroit will end up as one of the top stories of the year.
