The new launch brings a direct format competitor to iHeartMedia’s 98.9 KKZX, which currently leads the Spokane market with a 8.1 share. Hodgins acquired then 1330 KMBI from Moody Bible Institute in July for $100,000. The translator was moved from Pendleton OR and operates with 172w/443m. Radio Station KMJY also owns Classic Country “104.5 Hank-FM” KNHK Newport in the Spokane market.

The FCC appears to be cracking down on stations that build out facilities to beat CP deadlines and then swiftly go silent. CommLawBlog reports that all full-powered licenses granted since July 2 now include this clause: Grant of this license application is conditioned on continuous operations of the licensed facility for the twelve-month period following grant. Failure to do so will result in the rescission of this grant, dismissal of the license application and the forfeiture of the associated construction permit pursuant to 47 C.F.R. § 73.3598(c) unless licensee rebuts presumption that authorized facilities were temporarily constructed. Mapleton Communications will return Fox Sports Radio programming to Spokane on Monday, June 1. Classic Country “790 The Eagle” KJRB will become “Fox Sports 790“. KJRB will run the national Fox Sports Radio lineup around the clock. While Mapleton previously ran the FSR programming on 1510 KGA before switching to CBS Sports Radio in 2013, the network had been heard on iHeartMedia’s 1280 KZFS until it flipped to Christian AC “Up 99.3” in April.
