Flagler Broadcasting is using the holiday period to reboot Soft Oldies “Easy Oldies 100.9” W265CF Palm Coast/WBHQ-HD3 Beverly Beach FL. W265CF will relaunch on Monday, December 26 as “Kool 100.9” with a broader music library. The new format will focus on hits from the 60s through the 80s. 105.5 The Whale Gets Beached

Update 11/4: Just one month after its launch, “105.5 The Whale” is no more as Flagler Broadcasting began operating the station via Time Brokerage Agreement ahead of its purchase on November 1. Now simply identifying by its frequency with a streamlined Classic Hits format, it appears as though the station will eventually relaunch as “Beach 105.5” duplicating the format at soon to be sister Variety Hits “Beach 92.7” WBHQ Beverly Beach. Whale Watching In Saint Augustine

Air Augustine has closed on its purchase of Hot AC 105.5 WYRE-FM St. Augustine, FL and has quickly flipped it to Adult Rock “105.5 The Whale“. The station is promoting “St. Augustine’s Quality Rock From The 70s To Now” and that it will be fully live and local. The ownership group behind Air Augustine is full of prior radio experience. The new ownership group is made up of three people with radio experience. David Mitchell will serve as President of the Company with a 55% share. Mitchell is based in the Charlottesville, VA region where he once owned 107.5 WUMX (Now News/Talk WCHV-FM). Joseph Riley, owner of four stations in the Albany, NY area holds a 30% stake. Former 98.7 KLUV Dallas Program Director Peter Zolnowski has 15% of the company.

Two Translators Launch In Jacksonville

A pair of Jacksonville AM’s have launched FM translators. Queen Of Peace Radio Oldies “1600 The Beach” WZNZ Atlantic Beach has added an FM signal on 102.3 as W271AP Jacksonville has completed its relocation from 102.1 and power increase to 99 watts at 270 meters (Coverage Map). WZNZ runs programming from WestwoodOne’s new Good Time Oldies network. Chesapeake-Portsmouth Broadcasting Conservative Talk 600 WBOB Jacksonville is now airing on 100.3 W262AG Orange Park. W262AG operates with 228 watts at 270 meters (Coverage Map). To make the upgrade of W271AP possible, Phillips Broadcasting has completed the move of 102.3 W272CT St. Augustine to 102.1. WYRE-FM St. Augustine Sold

Steve Kingston’s Cortana Media has sold Hot AC 105.5 WYRE-FM St. Augustine to Air Augustine for $700,000. The new ownership group is made up of three people with radio experience. David Mitchell will serve as President of the Company with a 55% share. Mitchell is based in the Charlottesville, VA region where he once owned 107.5 WUMX (Now News/Talk WCHV-FM). Joseph Riley, owner of four stations in the Albany, NY area holds a 30% stake. Former 98.7 KLUV Dallas Program Director Peter Zolnowski has 15% of the company. Kingston, best know for his long programming career at stations including “Z100” WHTZ and “92.3 K-Rock” WXRK New York, retains majority ownership in AAA 103.1 WRNR-FM Grasonville, MD.

WSOS St. Augustine Returns

Kevin Geddings has returned 1170 WSOS St. Augustine, FL to the air. The station, which has been silent since 2010 is now being paired with a FM translator as Oldies 99.5 WSOS. 1170 WSOS operates as a 710 watt daytimer, while the translator which has not yet received its license to cover at 99.5 will operate 24/7 with 36 watts. The translator had been licensed to operate on 88.9 as W205CD was purchased by Geddings’ GLK Consultants last week for $30,000. The St. Augustine Record has more details on the programming of the new station. The new WSOS is unconnected to its former sister station, Renda Broadcasting’s “Classic Rock 94.1” WSOS-FM Fruit Cove/Jacksonville.

Kix Country Comes To Palm Coast, FL

Update 8/1: “Kix 98.7” debuted as previously announced this at 6am this morning. John Thomas aka JT, most recently at WJGH Jacksonville is hosting mornings. Update 6/14: Flagler County Broadcasting has added a second possible brand for their upcoming Country station in Palm Coast registering Kix987.com and KixCountry987.com. The Palm Coast Observer reports that the station is planning on debuting on August 1. Original Report 5/2: Flagler County Broadcasting will soon add an additional signal in Palm Coast, FL serving the area in between St. Augustine and Daytona Beach.
