Mark Wainwright has exited his position at iHeartMedia News/Talk 570 WSYR Syracuse/106.9 WSYR-FM Solvay NY after five years with the station. Wainwright states that his exit came following his show on Friday, July 20 after deciding to move on upon the upcoming expiration of his contract. He joined WSYR after years out of radio in March 2013 as a fill-in host and eventually took the morning slot following the passing of Joe Galuski in 2015. Wainwright was off for parts of 2017 and 2018 while dealing with throat cancer. He stated a willingness to work fill-in shifts for WSYR and other iHeart stations if needed. The FCC is proposing an adjustment of its rules in regards of translator interference complaints. In partially adopting a rulemaking originally proposed by the National Association of Broadcasters and Aztec Capital Partners, the FCC would allow translator causing interference to make a change to any available frequency as opposed to just the minor changes allowed now. It will also require six legitimate interference complaints as opposed to just the one with all complaints required to demonstrate that they are a "regular listener" and is not connected to the affected station. The only change to the original deal is that Foxfur will no longer be operating 92.1 WOLF-FM Baldwinsville NY via Time Brokerage Agreement until the deal closes. Instead they have exploited another FCC loophole by granting Family Life consent to rebroadcast their 1300 WOSW Oswego NY until the deal closes.
