For the second time this year Cumulus Hot AC “Channel 105.5” WWWM-FM Sylvania/Toledo is rebranding itself. The station relaunched this morning as “Q105.5” after picking up the “Channel” moniker on April 1 in place of “Star“. New WQQO call letters are now in place with the former WWWM-FM ones being parked on the former 105.7 WGVZ Eden Prairie MN. Regional Vice President Andy Stuart told morning host Denny Schaffer on-air that market research told them that listeners like letters of the alphabet with the letter Q constantly coming up and that “nobody knows what Channel meant”.
Two Salt Lake City area rimshots are applying to downgrade and a Kansas City translator application is dismissed for spacing violations.
Cumulus CHR “Star 105” 105.5 WWWM Toledo rebranded this morning as “Channel 105.5“. No on-air changes accompany the rebranding. The move follows the station’s evolution last year from Hot AC to CHR, which did little to help the station against iHeartMedia’s competing “92.5 Kiss-FM” WVKS. In the Fall 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings, WWWM’s 3.4 share trailed WVKS’ 7.5.
iHeartMedia News/Talk 1370 WSPD Toledo has added an FM simulcast. Educational Media Foundation owned 92.1 W221BG Randolph, OH has signed-on rebroadcasting WSPD. The 88 watts at 129 meters signal covers Toledo and adjacent towns (Coverage Map). The station was tied for sixth in the market with a 4.4 share in the Summer 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings.
