Townsquare Media Launches Alt 101.7 Tuscaloosa

As first tipped off in our 3/23 Domain Insight, Townsquare Media has flipped Hot AC “Star 101.7” WBEI Reform/Tuscaloosa AL to Alternative “Alt 101.7” today. The new format fills the Alternative opening in the market created by the loss of AAA “Birmingham Mountain Radio” on 97.5 W248BO Tuscaloosa until Townsquare took over operation of the trqnslator in December 2017 and flipped it to Classic Hits “Nick 97.5“. Brand Manager Meg Summers remains in place overseeing Alt 101.7. The syndicated Kidd Kraddick Morning Show is dropped with the change. New WQRR call letters are pending.

WDGM Relaunches As Tide 99.1

As we reported at earlier this month, Townsquare Media Sports “99.1 The Deuce” WDGM Tuscaloosa has rebranded as “Tide 99.1“. The branding comes as the station drops its simulcasts of programming from former sister 94.5 WJOX-FM Birmingham as Cumulus added “ESPN 100.5” WJQX, whose signal also gets into Tuscaloosa. WDGM claims it will also allow it to focus more on the hometown Alabama Crimson Tide. The station’s new lineup will feature Martin Houston and Baron Huber from 6-8am, Dan Patrick from 8-11am, Chris Stewart from 11am-1pm, Paul Finebaum from 1-5pm, “The Game” with Ryan Fowler from 5-8pm, and ESPN Radio at night.

WAPI Birmingham Breaks Up Simulcast To Bring ESPN Back
