Station Deletions United Broadcasting Company has requested the deletion of 630 KTKK Sandy and 1510 KLLB West Jordan UT in the Salt Lake City market. Both stations have been silent since May when KTKK's Talk programming was moved to sister 1640 KBJA Sandy. KTKK had been operating via STA from KLLB's tower, which was demolished in June.
The two waiver periods to move a translator up to 250 miles have come to an end. The RadioInsight AM Translator Tracker currently shows the following statistics for the two filing windows: Total Applications: 1047 CPs Granted: 860 Dismissals: 35 Applications Replaced With Another Station: 7 Pending Applications: 145 Among those 145 pending applications are five pairs of mutually exclusive filings (107.5 Austin TX, 107.5 Minneapolis, 106.3 Portland OR, 103.3 San Diego, and 95.9 St. Louis). Locally Owned Radio LLC. relaunched Country “102.1 The Canyon” KYUN Twin Falls ID as “102.1 The Bull” on Monday. The launch brings the Bull brand back to Twin Falls after 100.7 KQBL moved completely into the Boise market a year ago this week. KYUN’s Country format moved to 102.1 from 106.7 in March 2015.
Lee Family Broadcasting has launched CHR “Club 97.5” on 99.1 KXTA-HD3 Gooding/97.5 K248BZ Kimberly/Twin Falls, ID. The new format is the latest volley in a back and forth battle between Lee Family Broadcasting and crosstown Magic Valley Media. “Club 97.5” gives a CHR competitor to Magic Valley’s “92.7 The Music Monster” KTPZ Hazleton. American General Media acquires 106.9 K295AZ Buttonwillow, CA from First Ventures Capital Partners for $40,000. The translator holds a CP to relocate to the tower of AGM’s News/Talk 1180 KERN Wasco-Greenacres and will rebroadcast that station, bringing it to FM in Bakersfield. The University of Central Oklahoma is purchasing 95.9 KZCU Woodward, OK from Cameron University for $50,000. Lee Family Broadcasting has closed on its purchase of Hot AC “Mix 103” 102.9 KMVX and Classic Country 1400 KART from Southern Idaho Broadcasting and is preparing a format change at the FM. The Twin-Falls Times News reports that KMVX will flip to Sports “ESPN 102.9 The Zone” on May 24. The report incorrectly identifies KVNO as the calls for the new station. Those calls belong to the University of Nebraska’s Classical outlet in Omaha. The new calls for KMVX will be KZNO, which was requested back on March 16. The Zone has hired College of Southern Idaho voice Jonathan Drew as Sports Director and afternoon host.
