After exiting mornings at Urban One’s Urban 93.9 WKYS Washington DC in May, DJ Quicksilva is returning to the station as well as sister “92Q” 92.3 WERQ-FM Baltimore for afternoons. Quicksilva debuted in Baltimore on August 6 and will return to Washington on August 20. He hosted afternoons at WERQ until moving to mornings at WKYS in January 2016. Washington Adventist University Divests WGTS Washington DC

Washington Adventist University has announced it will spin-off Christian AC 91.9 WGTS Takoma Park/Washington DC to a newly created corporation Atlantic Gateway Communications for $12 million. Current WGTS Vice President/General Manager Kevin Krueger will serve as President of the new company, while board chairman Rob Vandeman will continue to fill the same role. WGTS will sign a five year lease to continue to operate at its current studios on the university campus. Entercom continue to revamp the markets it acquired from CBS Radio as two more Market Managers have exited the company. The Philadelphia Business Journal confirms that Steve Swenson has exited as head of the company’s Washington DC cluster, a role he had held under CBS since 2011 after previously overseeing that company’s two All-News stations in New York. Phil Zachary, who moved from Entercom Boston to his native Hartford upon completion of the merger, will now relocate to Washington. Zachary oversaw Classic Rock 94.7 WARW and Alternative 99.1 WHFS for CBS Radio from 1996-2001 before becoming President/COO of Curtis Media Group. For the first time since it moved off of 570 AM in 1998, Red Zebra Broadcasting Sports 980 WTEM Washington DC is utilizing “The Team” as its moniker. WTEM dropped its “ESPN Radio 980” name this morning in favor of “The Team 980“. No programming changes have accompanied the rebranding, as the station will still carry ESPN Radio network programming at night and on weekends. WTEM launched in 1992 as “570 The Team“. It moved to 980 in 1998 and was rebranded as “Sportstalk 980“. Pacifica Foundation Secures Emergency Loan To Stave Off ESRT Seizure

With the deadline allowing Empire State Realty Trust to begin to seize assets in order to claim the $1,819,687.52 in unpaid rent coming this week, the Pacifica Foundation has secured a $2 million bridge loan from supporters of 90.7 KPFK Los Angeles. Interim Executive Director Bill Crosier told the San Francisco Chronicle, “This would be a short-term loan to pay off the judgment, then the plans are to repay it with another, longer-term loan.” The Chronicle states that they are shopping for an additional $3 million loan to pay off the first bridge loan, additional accrued tower rent, and pension payments.
