Salem Prepares Move Of 1260 The Answer Washington

Salem Media is preparing to rearrange its Washington DC assets. As Edward Atsinger and Stu Epperson’s AM 570 LLC has closed on its $2.1 million acquisition of “SportsTalk 570” WSPZ Bethesda MD from Red Zebra Broadcasting, the assets will now be split between two Salem Media subsidiaries. Salem will reimburse Atsinger and Epperson the $2.1 million as the station license goes to Salem Media of Virginia for $600,000 while the property assets goes to Salem Radio Properties for $1,500,000. Salem Chairman Epperson and CEO Atsinger will also be reimbursed $20,000 in acquisition costs related to the purchase of WSPZ. The Office of Cable Television, Film, Music & Entertainment (OCTFME) of the city of Washington DC is launching “DC Radio” online and on Howard University’s 96.3 WHUR-HD4 Washington. Vince Coglianese Joins WMAL As Morning Host

Cumulus Conservative Talk 630 WMAL Washington DC/105.9 WMAL-FM Woodbridge VA has named Vince Coglianese as its new morning co-host along side Mary Walter. Coglianese joins WMAL from conservative website The Daily Caller where he replaced site founder Tucker Carlson as Editor-In-Chief when Carlson exited to focus on his Fox News Channel program last November. Bluegrass Country Foundation’s “Bluegrass Country” 88.5 WAMU-HD2 Washington DC will lose its analog signal in June as it has been unable to come to terms with Reston Translator LLC’s 105.5 W288BS Reston VA/Washington DC to continue rebroadcasting its programming. The Bluegrass programming will continue to be heard on W288BS until June 21. While iHeartMedia has made the most news lately in terms of staffing cuts, recent downsizing moves have been made the past few days at Cumulus Media, CBS Radio, and Entercom. Two major market Cumulus News/Talk stations have shed talent in the past couple of days. Morning host Brian Wilson is out at 630 WMAL/105.9 WMAL-FM Washington DC after six years at the station. Recently added co-host Mary Walter remains in place on “Mornings On The Mall”. Ron Kuby exits as 12-3pm co-host at 770 WABC New York. Red Zebra Broadcasting is selling Sports 92.7 WWXT Prince Frederick MD and 950 WXGI Richmond VA to Radio One for an undisclosed amount. With the deal, Radio One will begin operating both stations via LMA on Monday, May 1. WWXT will drop from the “ESPN 980” simulcast it has with 980 WTEM Washington DC and 94.3 WWXX Buckland VA and begin simulcasting Radio One Urban AC “Majic 102.3” WMMJ Bethesda MD.
