After a few days of stunting with patriotic music, Rocking M Media launched Rhythmic Oldies “92.7 The Blast” KWME Wellington/Wichita KS at 12pm today. Positioned as the “Rhythm of River City”, KWME is playing rhythmic leaning songs mostly from the 1980s through early 2000s but stretching further in either direction. The station lists core artists as Michael Jackson, Justin Timberlake, Snoop Dogg, Prince, TLC, Vanilla Ice, Black Eyed Peas, Jennifer Lopez. After joining the afternoon show at “710 ESPN” KSPN Los Angeles at the beginning of the year, Sean Farnham has quietly exited the station. Farnham was set to be paired with Marcellus Wiley and Eric Davis, but Davis was quickly let go following sexual harassment allegations while working at NFL Network. Rocking M Media has closed on its acquisition of Hot AC “Q92” 92.3 KKGQ Newton/Wichita KS and has flipped the station to Texas/Red Dirt Country as “Kansas Country 92.3“. KKGQ joins a crowded Country market in Wichita that includes Scripps’ market leading 101.3 KFDI-FM and iHeartMedia’s “102.1 The Bull” KZSN on the current end and Scripps’ 1070 KFDI and Connoisseur’s (and soon to be Rocking M’s) “100.5 Hank-FM” KVWF playing Classic Country. KKGQ’s now defunct Hot AC format registered a 0.7 share in the Spring 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings.

Rocking M Media To Merge With Envision Broadcast Network

Rocking M currently owns 24 stations in Central and Western Kansas and is in the process of acquiring Variety Hits “97.1 Bob-FM” KIBB Haven and Classic Country “100.5 Hank-FM” KVWF Augusta in the Wichita markets from Connoisseur Media. As part of the deal, Rocking M will integrate Envision Broadcast Academy’s educational programs for the vision impaired into its operations in all of its markets. Connoisseur Sells Wichita Duo

Connoisseur Media is selling Variety Hits “97.1 Bob-FM” KIBB Haven and Classic Country “100.5 Hank-FM” KVWF Augusta in the Wichita KS market to Rocking M Media. The purchase price was withheld from the sale contract filed with the FCC. Rocking M owns twenty stations across the state of Kansas and is in the process of acquiring five (and divesting one) in Salina KS from Alpha Media. Following the divestiture, Connoisseur will retain 37 stations in Connecticut, Montana, New Jersey, New York, and Pennsylvania.

Entercom Moves Wichita Talkers To New FM Homes

On Wednesday, October 12, Entercom will bring Conservative Talk 1330 KNSS Wichita KS to FM, while Sports 1240 KFH will move its FM simulcast to a new frequency. 1330 KNSS will begin simulcasting on what is now 98.7 KFH-FM Clearwater, bringing its Conservative Talk programming to the 50kW Class C2 rimshot. The Sports programming of 1240 KFH will slide down to 250 watt translator 97.5 K248CY Wichita. Both stations will retain their current programming and AM frequency. Effective October 12th, KFH FM will move from its current frequency at 98.7 to its new translator frequency at 97.5.
