In the first deal James Coloff will purchase the 50% stake of Coloff Media from his parents Anthony and Susan Coloff for $2.2 million. Educational Media Foundation is preparing signal upgrades for properties in the San Francisco Bay Area and Cleveland. EMF’s 107.3 KLVS Livermore, CA seeks to relocate about 15 miles west of its current location to a new tower site in the Diablo Mountains east of Oakland. KLVS would operate with 4.1kW at 481 meters increasing its coverage into San Francisco and San Jose (Coverage Map) at the expense of its coverage in Stockton and Modesto. As its CP for 30kW at 50 meters was set to expire on August 3, Wisconsin Rapids Seventh Day Adventist Church has applied and been granted a modification for 200 watts at 14 meters in order to get 91.9 WRAO Wisconsin Rapids, WI on-air before the permit expires (Coverage Map). WRAO states that the engineering firm hired to build the station’s facility went out of business before completing the project. After six days of bidding, 5he FCC’s auction of 22 Construction Permits for new AM signals is now complete. Of the 22 stations available, only 10 received bids from the 17 qualified bidders over 34 rounds. The FCC gained $891,500 from the auction of the ten stations. With a $409,000 bid in the 32nd round, The Levine/Schwab Partnership gains 1500 in Culver City, CA. The Los Angeles market station will operate with 25kW daytime and 1kW nights. Their bid beat a competing attempt from Royce International, who had been attempting to get their former 1500 KRCK Burbank relicensed and built in Culver City since the mid-80’s. $409,000 also gives Alexander Communications a CP to relocate its 1300 WRCR Spring Valley to Ramapo with 10kW daytime and 1kW nights. After selling off its Municie, IN and Elmira & Olean, NY clusters in May, Backyard Broadcasting completes its exit from radio by selling its Williamsport, PA stations to Dan Farr. Farr is currently the VP/GM of the Williamsport stations he will be purchasing after leading the cluster for the past 20 years under the ownership of Backyard and previously Sabre Communications. No purchase price has been announced yet. He will operate the stations under the name Backyard Broadcasting PA. One of the markets that has yet to see translator action this year has been Chicago. Calvary Radio Network is looking to change that. 100.7 W264BF Englewood, IL currently operates with 2 watts from the top of the Willis (formerly Sears) Tower. It has been granted a CP to upgrade to 10 watts which will give it coverage of much of the city of Chicago. The translator is currently licensed to simulcast Calvary’s 89.9 WHLP Valparaiso, IN. The maneuverings of Radio Power, Inc with its translators in Detroit will end up as one of the top stories of the year.
