Radio Sharon transfers its option to acquire 1220 WSTL and 93.7 W229AN Providence RI to Diaz Holdings. New England Christian Media will sell the stations to to Diaz for $240,000. WSTL is the originating station for Radio Sharon’s Spanish CHR “Mega 94.9” W235CN Providence. After applying earlier this month to donate Silent 1450 WBVA Bayside and 1550 WVAB Virginia Beach VA to the Multicultural Media, Telecom, and Internet Council’s MMTC Broadcasting, Birach Broadcasting will instead donate the two stations to Dr. Katrina Chase’s Believe & Achieve Family & Education Center. FCC Actions The FCC has rejected Roy Henderson's Petition For Reconsideration for the deletion of 99.7 KROY Palacios TX. Henderson had previously admitted to operating KROY from March 1 through 9, 2013 and December 23, 2013 through January 2, 2014 at sites without a license or STA while mostly being silent from the dismantling of its tower in November of 2007 and March 15, 2014 when it began Program Test Authority from its replacement site. Dismissals Point Broadcasting Rhythmic Oldies "Old School 99.1" KXFM Santa Maria CA has requested and had its CP to change city-of-license to Port Hueneme and serve the Oxnard/Ventura and Santa Barbara markets with 3.8kW/493m revoked. Point stated that it "reached the conclusion that the station as permitted in its CP is unlikely to achieve full radio market coverage unobstructed from the proposed transmitter site (or other existing Class B sites complying with the FM separations rules) and hence might not be sustainable as a local provider."

After acquiring News/Talk “107.7 The Pulse” WTPL Hillsboro/Concord NH along with two other stations from Great Eastern Radio for $2.6 million, Dirk Nadon’s Lakes Media turns around and sells WTPL to Binnie Media for $1.3 million. Steve McKay To Program Cumulus’ WGNI/WKXS Wilmington

Cumulus Media has tabbed Steve McKay as Program Director of AC 102.7 WGNI and Classic Rock “94.5 The Hawk” WKXS Wilmington NC. McKay, who has been mostly out of the radio industry for the past decade, joins Cumulus from Beasley Media Classic Hits 100.1 WJRZ Manahawkin NJ where he was hosting weekends. He is best known for his runs programming Entercom Hot AC “94.9 The Point” WPTE Norfolk from 2002-2006 and Greater Media Rhythmic Oldies “95.7 Jammin’ Gold” WEJM Philadelphia in 1999-2000. Chad Adams’ Red Wolf Broadcasting (unrelated to the Connecticut based company of the same name) will take over the LMA of Carolina Christian Radio’s 106.7 WMYT Carolina Beach/Wilmington NC on Monday, March 20. Red Wolf will relaunch the station as “106.7 The Big Talker” WFBT resurrecting the brand that was previously heard on 93.7 WNTB/106.3 WLTT until its flip to News “Port City Radio” in 2013. WHQR Moves Classical To Stronger Translator

Friends of Public Radio’s 91.3 WHQR Wilmington NC is moving its Classical programming to a stronger translator. The group has closed on its purchase of 92.7 W224CX Wilmington from Conner Media and completed its upgrade to 250w/141m. W224CX replaces 99 watt 96.7 W244DH Wilmington as the primary home of its Classical programming. That signal holds a CP to move south of Wilmington where it plans to eventually land in the Southport/Oak Island area to enhance the Classical programming’s coverage in the beach communities.

Sunny 104.5 Wilmington To Move To 103.7 On December 1

Sunrise Broadcasting AC “Sunny 104.5” WILT Carolina Beach/Wilmington NC will move to 103.7 on December 1. Sunrise acquired the stronger 103.7 WBNE Wrightsville Beach from Sea-Comm in September for $1.85 million and concurrently selling WILT to Bible Broadcasting Network for $300,000. 103.7 will assume the WILT call letters when the deals close on December 1 giving the station a permanent format for the first time since January. Davis Media had been operating WBNE via LMA from Sea-Comm as News “Port City Radio” until the end of January and as a simulcast of AAA “98.3 The Penguin” WUIN through June.
