KKHA will create a duopoly with “96 Country” 96.1 KIOX-FM Edna along the Gulf Coast northeast of Victoria TX. Dan Dockstander’s Star Valley Media is purchasing a pair of stations in southwestern Wyoming. Country “105.3 The Diamond” KDWY Diamondville comes from the SLC Divestiture Trust I for $15,000, while Broadway Media sells Classic Hits “940 The Fossil” KMER Kemmerer and the CP for 92.5 K233DD Kemmerer for $47,000. FCC Report 11/26: KSIY Deleted

Deletions Centro Cristiano de Vida Abundante's 90.9 KSIY San Simeon CA license was cancelled following KCBX Inc's Informal Objection in May 2013. The station was originally granted its License to Cover application on May 2, 2013 but it was rescinded immediately after KCBX alleged that the station was not timely constructed and the licensee had no authorization to use its granted site as it had not yet obtained a permit from San Luis Obispo County. Following an inquiry in 2014 that found multiple inconsistencies in the statements from CCVA, the agency has ordered the license cancelled.

Froggy Gives Way To Willie In Youngstown

Forever Media has flipped Country “Froggy 95” WWGY Grove City PA/Youngstown OH to Classic Country “Willie 95.1“. The change took place on Saturday morning as WWGY joins Forever sister stations in Pittsburgh and Wheeling utilizing the Willie branding. While taking WWGY out of a three way Country battle with Cumulus’ “K105” 105.1 WQXK and iHeartMedia’s “106.1 The Bull” WBBG in Youngstown, the move also eliminates overlap with Forever’s “Froggy 98.5/100.3” 98.5 WGYY Oil City/100.3 WGYY Meadville. New WYLE call letters are pending.

WWIZ flipped to Oldies at 12pm today as “Z104“. The station is utilizing Westwood One’s 1960s/1970s based “Good Time Oldies” satellite feed. Since Friday afternoon the station has been looping Moody Blues “Nights In White Satin” and Royal Guardsmen “Snoopy Vs. The Red Baron” with just a legal ID between the songs. For the second time this year, Cumulus Media has debuted a new format on 600 WSOM Youngstown OH. After first flipping from Conservative Talk to Adult Standards in May, WSOM switched after Christmas to Classic Country. “AM 600” is utilizing the Westwood One network feed.

John Crenshaw Moves To Youngstown As Cumulus OM

Cumulus Media has announced that John Crenshaw will transfer from Grand Rapids MI to Youngstown OH as Operations Manager. Crenshaw currently serves as Program Director/Afternoon Host (on air as Johnboy) of Country “94.5 Nash-FM” WTNR and Regional Operations Manager for the company’s stations in Grand Rapids and northern Michigan. The move is a homecoming for the Edinburg OH native who joined Cumulus in August 2013. WBBG Flips To Country

iHeartMedia flipped Classic Hits “Big 106.1” WBBG Niles/Youngstown OH to Country “106.1 The Bull” on Monday. The new format goes up against Cumulus’ market leading “K105” 105.1 WQXK Salem. WQXK held a 10.6 share in the Fall 2015 Nielsen Audio ratings, while WBBG was eighth in the market with a 4.2 share. The station is launching with multiple two-hour commercial-free blocks. Charley Connolly, Program Director/afternoon host of sister 99.5 WGAR Cleveland adds oversight of WBBG to his duties, while airstaffers from other iHeart stations will fill the on-air lineup. WGAR night host Kat Jackson will host 6am-12pm, WNCO Mansfield OH afternoon host Matt Appleby will air 12pm-6pm, and WKDD Canton morning co-host Tony McGinty from 6pm-12am.

FCC Report 2/7: The Non AM Waiver Action

Amazingly there were some moves this week that did not involve the 250 mile AM translator waiver. The agency acted quickly on many filings from right before the waiver period started so we should see quick action on the multitude of filings made when it started on January 29.

Kasa Radio Hogar has been operating KSAZ under a Time Brokerage Agreement. Harold and Eric Zwidler will acquire silent 960 WHYL Carlisle, PA out of bankruptcy from trustee Trustworthy Radio for $30,000. The Zwidlers own the other two commercial stations licensed to Carlisle: Classic Country 1000 WIOO and Country “Red 102.3” WCAT-FM.
