Midwest Communications has pulled the plug on Active Rock “96 Rock” 95.7 KDAL-FM Duluth, MN.
The station flipped to AC on Monday branded as “FM 95.7” and positioned as “The Northland’s Best Variety”. The move places the station between Townsquare Media Classic Hits “Kool 101.7” KLDJ and the Hot AC duo of “Mix 108” KBMX and “Nu92” WWAX. The station fills a Mainstream AC hole in the market that has been existent for many years.
The Rock format was unable to carve a sustainable niche between Red Rocks Radio’s combo of market leading Classic Rock 94.9 KQDS and Active Rock “94X” 104.3 KZIO/94.1 K231BI.
Back to their roots. 95.7 was Mainstream AC for a long time prior to flipping to Adult Hits in 2005 or so.
