The University of Virginia’s 91.1 WTJU Charlottesville, VA will begin operating Fifth Estate Broadcasting’s Full Service Talk 1430 WHAN/102.9 W275BQ Ashland, VA via LMA on Sunday, February 1.
The start of the LMA will commence with a flip of WHAN/W275BQ to a simulcast of WTJU’s programming. WTJU airs a diverse format consisting of blocks of Classical, Jazz, Blues, Rock, and some PRX programming. StyleWeekly.com reports that WTJU is in negotiations to allow Virginia Commonwealth University’s student-run webcaster WVCW.org to broadcast on WHAN/W275BQ from 6pm-1am daily.
The University of Virginia also has signed an option to buy the stations if it desires at a later date.
