Colonial Media + Entertainment has launched Rock/Sports “92-5 FBX” 1450 WFBX/92.5 W223CL Spring Lake NC.
Superserving Fort Bragg, just north of Fayetteville, the launch is timed with the sign-on of WFBX’s new FM translator. The station will feature a mix of current and classic rock in morning drive, nights and weekends and syndicated Sports talkers Dan Patrick from 9am-12pm, Jim Rome 12-3pm, and Colin Cowherd 3-6pm. WFBX will also add Army football this fall.
WFBX had been simulcasting sister Sports “ESPN 100.1” 1230 WFAY/100.1 W261CX Fayetteville.
Rock and Sports are living in perfect harmony at 92.5FM, which went on the air this afternoon. Billed as “92-5 FBX,” the station carries several syndicated sports talk shows, current and classic rock, and is the new home of Army (West Point) Black Knights football for the Fayetteville, NC, market beginning in 2016.
Colonial Media + Entertainment Chairman/CEO Jeff Andrulonis says he is thrilled to be able to create a Radio station specifically for the Fort Bragg military community. “92-5 FBX is built for Bragg because it’s based at Bragg. Our tower is just off base property so we’re literally the closest radio antenna to Fort Bragg. Because of our proximity to the base, this format is a natural. Plus the station ties in perfectly with our existing station, 100.1FM and ESPNFayetteville.com down in Fayetteville.”
92-5 FBX carries rock in morning drive, then Dan Patrick, Jim Rome, and Colin Cowherd in middays and afternoons before returning to rock for nights, overnights, and weekends. In addition to the 92.5FM signal, 92-5 FBX is also heard on AM1450, which originally signed on back in May 1963 as WFBS. Scott Shannon, nationally famous Radio disc jockey, got his start in Radio at WFBS while he was still in the Army, based at Fort Bragg.
