Ramiro Torres Out; Frankie Vinci In At Jam’n 94.5 Boston

Lance Ventaby Lance Venta
July 22, 2015

Ramiro Torres Jam'n Jamn 94.5 WJMN Boston Pebbles Hot 96.9Ramiro Torres and Santi DeOleo are both out at WJMN as Frankie Vinci comes across the country from sister CHR “Channel 93.3” KHTS-FM San Diego to take over the morning show.

A native of Framingham, MA, Frankie V will join incumbent co-host Ashlee Feldman for the “The Jam’n Morning Show with Frankie & Ashlee” starting Monday, July 27. Vinci also served as APD/MD at KHTS-FM and had hosted mornings with Geena The Latina since 2010 after moving up from nights. He was also voicetracking afternoons at “102.3 The Beat” KPEZ Austin and weekends at multiple iHeartMedia CHR’s including KIIS-FM Los Angeles and WXKS Boston.

iHeartMedia Boston announced today the debut of “The Jam’n Morning Show with Frankie & Ashlee,” beginning Monday, July 27 on Jam’n 94.5, Boston’s No. 1 for Hip-Hop. Frankie Vinci will now join Ashlee Feldman to host mornings on Jam’n 94.5.

“The Jam’n Morning Show with Frankie & Ashlee” will air weekday mornings from 6-10:00 a.m. ET. The new show will feature daily lifestyle discussions, entertainment and hip-hop music news with Ashlee’s Sleaze and “3 Things Your Friends are Talking About.” The show will continue the long tradition of “Jam Scams” three times each morning. Frankie joins the Jam’n morning show from within iHeartMedia. He has hosted mornings on Channel 93.3 in San Diego since 2010. His experience on-air includes roles at KIIS-FM in Los Angeles, Kiss 95.7 in Hartford and at sister station Kiss 108 in Boston. Frankie was born in Boston, raised in Framingham, Mass. and is very active within the community, supporting a number of charities including After School All Stars, Boys & Girls Club of America, St. Baldricks and Ronald McDonald House.

“Frankie is one of our rising stars in iHeartMedia, and we are thrilled to be able to bring him back to Boston and Jam’n 94.5,” said Dylan Sprague, Senior Vice President of Programming, iHeartMedia Boston. “Frankie’s open, honest and vulnerable personality creates unique conversations that made him a success in San Diego. Being a Boston kid and Jam’n fan growing up, I know Frankie understands this city, our music and the lifestyle of the Jam’n listener. Pair that with Ashlee Feldman’s deep connection with the Jam’n audience and you have a show that will be fun, edgy and will give young Boston a real voice on the radio.”

“People may wonder why I’m giving up the perfect weather of San Diego for the snow, rain and funny Boston accents, but Boston has been and always will be my home. Growing up I always listened to Jam’n 94.5 and now I am going to host the morning show. Dreams do come true,” said Frankie. Thank you to iHeartMedia for allowing me this opportunity to go home.”

Original Report 7/15: Morning host Ramiro Torres and producer/co-host Santi DeOleo have gone missing from iHeartMedia Rhythmic CHR “Jam’n 94.5” WJMN Boston.

The Boston Herald reports that the pair have been taken off the air as Torres contract expires later this year. Torres wished to postpone negotiations until then perhaps to better explore his options. Afternoon host Maverick has been filling in mornings along with remaining co-host Ashlee Feldman.

Ramiro has been with WJMN since 1994 and has led the morning show since 2001. With his former co-hosts Pebbles and Melissa leading the morning show at Greater Media Rhythmic Hot AC “Hot 96.9” WBQT it could be easy to speculate at a possible reunion at that station should he not settle his contractual issues with WJMN.

Could iHeart play hardball in the hope Ramiro Torres walks away from WJMN-94.5 so the company can launch “Breakfast Club” from corporate sister Premiere Networks on the station??

iHeart would save a lot of money by replacing Ramiro with a syndicated morning show, but on the other hand, there is a risk that there could be a big fall-off in listeners which might not make the move as profitable as the company might like.

Hiring Frankie V is a good move for WJMN. Plus its a good thing they keep the morning show live and local.
