Update 5/22/09: WNUA became Spanish Hot AC “Mega 95.5” at 9:55 following a montage looking back at its days as WDHF, WMET, WRXR, and WNUA.
Original Entry 5/20/09: Over the past week. the rumor mill has exploded over the future of Smooth Jazz 95.5 WNUA Chicago. We had tweeted on May 4 about Clear Channel flipping one of its Smooth Jazz outlets to Spanish but never followed up on it. We were referring to Mega955.com being registered by Clear Channel in late April. Since then a lot of discussion has revolved around a 955catcountry.com that features a countdown clock to 12pm on June 1.
We’re pretty sure that the Cat County site is either a rouse or has nothing to do with Chicago. If there’s a flip at WNUA, we’re pretty sure it’ll be Mega 95.5. Will it be Spanish or Rhythmic AC? That remains to be seen.
