Cox Media Group has swapped format locations of Alternative “X102.9” WXXJ Jacksonville and Soft AC “Easy 106.5” WEZI Ponte Vedra Beach FL.
The move places the Soft AC format on the 100kW Class C 102.9 signal and with the frequency switch, “Easy 102.9” has gone All-Christmas to compete against Renda AC 96.1 WEJZ.
WXXJ goes in reverse to the Class A signal as “X106.5“. In the October 2017 Nielsen Audio ratings, WXXJ was tenth in the Jacksonville market with a 3.7 share while WEZI was thirteenth with a 2.5.
Cox Media Group (CMG) Jacksonville has switched frequencies on two of its radio stations, WEZI Easy 106.5 is now heard on 102.9 FM, and WXXJ X102.9 is now heard on 106.5 FM.
In addition to Easy 102.9’s move, it became the first station in Jacksonville to play Holiday music, calling itself “Jacksonville’s New Home for The Holidays, Easy 102.9!” This move allows Easy 102.9 to be heard from Brunswick, GA to southern St. John’s County, FL.
“Our Easy listeners told us they wanted a larger signal, and we listened!” said CMG Jacksonville Market VP Dan Lawrie. “We felt this was a great time to introduce Easy on 102.9 FM and no better way to do that than to be the first radio station in Jacksonville to play Christmas Music.”
X106.5 will continue broadcasting that same great lineup and alternative music Jacksonville has grown to love.
