Cumulus Media has appointed Christopher ‘Boomer’ Layfield as Operations Manager for its Indianapolis cluster and Program Director of Country 95.5 WFMS.
Boomer most recently served as Program Director of iHeartMedia CHR “Channel 96.1” WHQC and Variety Hits “102.9 The Lake” WLKO Charlotte NC until his exit in January. He has also programmed for iHeart in St. Louis, Richmond, San Diego, and Nashville during his career.
In addition to programming WFMS, Boomer will serve as Operations Manager overseeing recently launched CHR “Energy 93.9” WYRG and Classic Hits 104.5 WJJK. Those two stations will continue to be programmed by Jay Michaels.
Layfield fills the opening created by Stephen Guittari’s exit in January.

Layfield heads to Indianapolis from Charlotte, NC, where he was Program Director for iHeartMedia. He has also held programming positions in markets including: St. Louis, MO, Richmond, VA, San Diego, CA, and Nashville, TN.
