Capitol Broadcasting is shuffling some of its AM and translator programming in Raleigh as it launches a new AAA currently branded as “That Station“.
Capitol has moved the Sports format branded as “The Ticket” from 1550 WCLY/95.7 W239CK Raleigh to 620 WDNC Durham and 99.9 WCMC-HD3 Holly Springs. The secondary Sports “Buzz” format moves off of WDNC but continues on 96.5 W243DK Durham and 99.3 W257CS Morrisville via WCMC-HD2. The primary “99.9 The Fan” WCMC-FM remains untouched.
1550 WCLY/95.7 W239CK Raleigh is now operating as “That Station” although a name the station contest is up and running with the winner to receive a $1,000 donation in their name to a local charity. The launch comes as W239CK completes its upgrade to 250w/383m from the tower utilized by 105.1 WDCG and 93.9 WNCB.
That station is promoting itself as a mix of Roots, Americana, Country, Rock, Folk, Bluegrass, and R&B with support for local artists. Among the core artists listed are ason Isbell, Nathaniel Rateliff, The Decemberists, The Allman Brothers Band, Brandi Carlisle, Tedeschi Trucks, Anderson East, and Van Morrison.
