After its long loop of Michael Jackson’s “Thriller”, Alpha Media CHR “Z99” 99.1 KEEZ-FM Mankato MN has flipped to AC “Mix 99.1“.
Positioning as “Today’s Best Music” and core artists including Pink, Maroon 5, Adele, Bruno Mars, and Justin Timberlake, the station will continue to be anchored by the “Brad and Sarah” morning show hosted by Content Director Brad Steele and Sarah Fette.
Alpha Media, Mankato, MN announced the launch of Mix 99.1. The station, formally Z99 (KEEZ-FM), will target the 25-54 demo with Today’s Best Music including artists such as Pink, Maroon 5, Adele, Bruno Mars, Justin Timberlake, and more!
Alpha Media, Mankato Market Manager, Jim Lowe commented on the announcement, “The new Mix 99.1 is exactly what the name implies, a solid mix of the right music. Combine that with Brad and Sarah’s Mankato hometown roots and local experience and this is a radio station whose time to shine is right now. We couldn’t be more proud or excited about the new sound.”

KEYC-TV reports that the stunting will lead up to a “big announcement” tomorrow morning. KEEZ-FM Content Director/morning host Brad Steele told the station, “I really am excited for people to see tomorrow what’s going to happen at 9 AM. Because of all the hard work that’s been put in, you really don’t know how things are going to sound until you hit that button and go on the air with it. So I’m excited for people to tune in and listen and see what’s going to happen.”

While the format change may or may not be a good move(I don’t know enough about the market to say), the comments above are about as believable as those in the political adverts running right now. “listener demand” almost never causes a format change.
