September 15, 2019

Fun 101.3 WROZ LancasterHall Communications has made multiple cuts at its Lancaster PA cluster including Hot AC “Fun 101.3” WROZ Program Director/midday host Michael C. Anthony and Music Director/afternoon host Patsy Simpson. Anthony had served as PD of WROZ since 1999.

AJ Maguire has exited afternoons at Cox Media Country “K92.3” WWKA Orlando in preparation of moving to a new job. Maguire hosted mornings at WWKA from 2011-2016 before moving to afternoons. Before coming to Orlando, Maguire served as APD/morning host at WBTU Fort Wayne and has also worked in Dallas, Portland, Salt Lake City and Springfield MO.

Rex Long has exited the Program Director/afternoon host position at Cumulus Media CHR “98.9 Magic-FM” KKMG Colorado Springs. Long joined KKMG in June 2017 after previously serving in the same position at Cumulus’ “Y102” WHHY Montgomery AL from 2010-2017.

Helen Powers is exiting her position as Promotions Director and afternoon host at Mel Wheeler Inc. AC “Q99” 99.1 WSLQ Roanoke VA at the end of the month after two and a half years with the station. Power joined WSLQ in 2017 after previously co-hosting mornings at iHeartMedia Country 107.9 WYYD in the market. She has also worked at WLZR Milwaukee, KBER Salt Lake City, and WWWV and WWGN Charlottesville.

Kobi Kearney has exited as Program Director of iHeartMedia CHR “98.9 Radio Now” WNRW and Hot AC “100.5 Kiss-FM” WLGX Louisville. Kearney joined WNRW/WLGX in July 2015 after previously programming “101.9 Kiss-FM” KWNW Memphis and serving as APD of WDCG Raleigh and MD/night host at “Wired 96.5” WRDW-FM Philadelphia.

After joining Entercom Classic Hits 101.1 WCBS-FM New York for middays this summer, Race Taylor is now also voicetracking middays at 98.7 KLUV Dallas. Prior to coming to New York in 1999, Taylor served as APD/afternoon host at “Mix 102.9” KDMX Dallas.

After being let go from Entercom Hot AC “Star 102.5” WTSS Buffalo, Roger Christian has quickly joined Radio One Buffalo Oldies 1230 WECK for weekends and fill-ins.

Radio One Buffalo, LLC owner and operator Buddy Shula announced that former STAR 102.5 (Entercom) Mid-Day personality Roger Christian will be joining the line-up of legendary local broadcasters at WECK effective September 16th, 2019

“To say I am thrilled would be an understatement” Shula states. “Roger is one of the most talented and respected broadcasters in Buffalo. I admire what Roger has accomplished not only in his broadcast career, but also as a human being. He is just a terrific person. Simple as that”

Roger Christian’s radio career began to blossom in 1970 as he was the overnight personality at WYSL radio. He then became Music Director at WGRQ (now 97 Rock), until landing at the frequency where he would spend the next 43 years, 102.5FM. In 1976, during the infancy of FM radio, Roger became morning personality at “Stereo Rock”, Rock 102. That would begin a 43 year reign at the very same frequency, until recently.

“It took so long to get back on the air again” Christian joked. “I appreciate the incredible career I have had, and the listeners who have always been there for me, along with the tremendous support I have always had from management in every company I have worked for.”

In addition to on air duties at WECK Radio which will include weekends and fill-in air shifts, WECK is announcing the “WECK MUSIC ROAD SHOW WITH ROGER CHRISTIAN”. This will be an opportunity for Roger to continue to provide entertainment and music for wedding receptions, class reunions, retirement parties, etc. “Roger Christian DJ’d my own weeding 8 years ago, so I figured this was a no-brainer. There is no better mobile DJ than Roger! Shula said.

“I have always had a passion for entertaining people on the radio and off the radio. The opportunity at WECK gives me the best of both worlds. I am really looking forward to the next phase of my career” Christian says.

Radio One Buffalo, LLC, Vice-President Glenn Topolski added “There’s not a nice, more genuine person that I have worked with in radio. It truly is an honor to be working side by side with Roger, as I did 18 years ago.”
