Wallace Broadcasting Company News/Talk 1400 WFPA Fort Payne AL is off the air after its landlord evicted the station from its studios and dismantled its tower.
The Dekalb County Sheriff’s Office served the eviction notice during the station’s morning show on Friday. According to morning co-host Steve Malcom, the station was forced off the air at 8:05am and by 2:00pm the station’s tower had been taken down. Owner Mike Wallace told WHNT-TV that the station has already moved into a new studio space and intends to be back on the air by the end of the month.
It appears the station knew it would be evicted as one listener setup a GoFundMe fundraiser for WFPA earlier this month and another commented that she heard them discussing it would be going off the air.
