iHeartMedia Hot AC “My 102.5” WMYI Greenville SC has become another October entrant into the holiday music club.
However, unlike past years where the station retained its normal branding through the months of November and December with Christmas music, this year the station has rebranded as “Christmas 102.5“.
That usually is enough for us to place WMYI on our post-Christmas format change watchlist, however up the road in Charlotte, Christian AC “Up 98.7” W254AZ/WRFX-HD2 makes the same move every year (and did so this morning) without a rebranding. As the Greenville market is overseen by iHeartMedia regional management in Charlotte, it may simply be a measure of following the practice done in that market.
WMYI currently features the syndicated Ace & TJ morning show usually heard on CHR formatted stations, but segued towards AC at night with Delilah. WMYI is usually one of two Christmas music stations in the Greenville market along with Entercom AC “Magic 98.9” WSPA-FM.
Also making the move to Christmas music this afternoon was Entercom Hot AC “Mix 105.1” WMHX Waunakee/Madison WI.
