The Christmas Music stunting on Rubber City Radio Smooth Jazz “107.3 The Wave” WNWV Elyria/Cleveland came to an end as the station began simulcasting sister Country 94.9 WQMX Medina/Akron this morning.
While early rumors considered a WQMX simulcast as the eventual new format, all signs point to this being a temporary move to promote the Country outlet, which has a good signal through most of the Cleveland market despite focusing on adjacent Akron. Outside of the legal ID at the top of the hour, WQMX is making no mention of being on 107.3. We still expect the new branding at WNWV to pay off the “#WhoIsJeny” billboard campaign in Cleveland.
WNWV moved to Christmas music on November 15 and its airstaff exited in early December. WNWV was originally Smooth Jazz from 1987 until flipping to AAA in December 2009. Upon its acquisition by Rubber City in January 2011, the station returned to the Smooth Jazz “Wave” identity.

The Christmas music is still streaming on the still active Wave website as of right now.

Look at the last tag. #JenY with a capital Y at the end. #JenY=Gen Y=Generation Y.
I predict a 2000’s heavy format (with maybe some late 90s). Something possibly like the link below.
